Back in 2018 we began work on the House of Nature museum in Dolní Věstonice, a place best known for the Venus of Dolní Věstonice and one of the oldest excavated sites of human habitation in the world. The museum explores the relationships between natural and human history, showing how people, plants and animals have adapted over millennia in this evolving landscape. The project was led by London & Brno based designer Jana Vodičková and opened to the public in 2025. Last year we worked with @portsmouthcathedral to design and make a new welcome desk and shop counter. The desk was kept low and uncomplicated to allow visitors to be greeted personally by the Cathedral’s volunteers and the materiality was simple and robust, in keeping with the Cathedral itself. A project we completed last year, a company history display for @taipingcarpets . This was a chance to use our experience designing for museums to create a flexible, adaptable and finely-crafted introduction to Tai Ping’s showrooms in London & Paris. We’ve been working with the Wiener Holocaust Library in Bloomsbury over the last couple of years to rethink their temporary exhibition gallery, designing new visitor reception, flexible display panels, showcases, shop display and storage. We also worked with @wolfehall.studio and @dhadesigns on the design for the first temporary exhibition in the new space, a retrospective of sculptor Fred Kormis which opened in September 2024. Our design for the exhibition was clear and calm, helping give order and presence to a wide range of the sculptor’s work, from preparatory sketches, maquettes and personal ephemera though to finished works. Since 2014 we’ve worked on a range of permanent museum and gallery projects, some of which have remained on paper as feasibility studies, some have been realised and several are ongoing. The longer timescales involved allow us to think in depth about content, space and materiality and to develop designs that are as finely crafted, sustainable and enduring as possible. 1. Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, ongoing 2. Wiener Holocaust Library, ongoing 3. Manchester Jewish Museum, 2021 4. Kelmscott Manor, 2022 5. Brunel Museum, study 6. House of Nature Dolní Věstonice, ongoing 7. Cyprus Museums Study, study 8. Battle Abbey Gatehouse, 2017 9. Rievaulx Abbey Museum, 2016 10.
