"I am an Iranian artist, born and raised in Esfahan, Iran. I have chosen a rather uncommon life path for an Iranian woman coming from a traditional family in a conservative city. In my family, art was, and still is, considered a “hobby.” Though I was never encouraged to study art as my primary academic focus, I made the choice to leave my hometown and move to the United States to study art. This was the start of my unconventional academic and professional path. Making the choice to leave Iran not only allowed me wonderful opportunities in my education and professional career, but also showed me how rewarding perseverance can be." - Shabnam Jannesari @shabnam.jannesari featured in Issue 4. If you are new to our Artist X Change features - it's our initiative for art organizatons to extend visibility for women artists.

I started All SHE Makes with big dreams that we all lived out together for three solid years. We promoted visibility for artists by offering more opportunities through our scholarship and Artist x Change programs. Our collaborations involved ArtGirlRising, SHOWFIELDS, Antipode Gallery, WWF (World Wildlife Fund), where millions got to see amazing work by our artists. We worked with a fine art licensing company to offer a few of our artist’s the opportunity to add additional income streams by licensing their work. We donated over $5000 USD to the following organizations and non-profits: National Museum of Women in the Arts, National Bail Fund Network, Black Lives Matter, Black Artist Fund, Black Artists + Designers Guilt, Tessera Art Collective, Stop AAPI Hate, and more. As of 2023, we adopted a new submission fee “pay what you can” structure to further decrease barriers of entry for marginalized people. Work of over 800 artists from over 30 countries has been seen by the world. Our website and All SHE Makes women artists directory will continue to remain active as a platform and resource to highlight and serve women and GNC artists. You will be free to continue to purchase any swag or digital issues of our magazines. I might share a new artist I discovered here and there, but my involvement will remain very limited. For now, All SHE Makes is closing doors because my life changed significantly, and I am very excited to explore more of it. If anyone is interested about the details, I will post a more personal announcement on my website svitlanas.com. This is a very good ending, I promise 🙂 I want to personally thank all artists and vendors that worked with us and trusted us. If there is any pending business - you will be fully refunded for your submission or subscription. Best wishes to all. Svitlana.

We are back with another glorious issue that highlights incredible women and gender-nonconforming artists from around the globe. This time around, we are boasting artist features directly from our global community (13 countries in this issue), asking them more insightful questions per your requests, and taking you into their private studios. In our Artist Support section, Teri Henderson @terimhenderson , writer and curator, will take you through the importance of developing and cultivating business relationships with curators as artists. Teri also chimes in on another thoughtful, and no less significant, piece about the importance of rest in your creative practice! Additionally, you can enrich your business acumen by learning everything there is to know about all the possible ways to price your work in an article by Svitlana Martynjuk. Finally, Lauren @l.brumbach.art will help you redefine Failure as Fuel, giving you actionable steps to recalibrate the meaning behind the word and bring some acceptance into your life surrounding the subject. This issue truly has been a team effort. Lauren and Teri did most of the work, while Svitlana has been busy directly assisting Ukrainian refugees full-time. If you have a chance, find them on social media and thank them! Artists we feature in our directory and magazine see no limits. In 2016, Mosley was one of the contributing artists of “Loving Vincent“, the first ever fully-painted, Oscar-Nominated feature film. This opportunity was the artist’s first time working in animation in Poland. Creating over 250 frames of the film while in Poland “was life changing in a way, and a motivation to keep pursuing my passion as an independent artist”, notes Mosley. @cm__art LEARN about contemporary women and non gender conforming artists via links in bio. PRE-ORDER now to guarantee you get a copy! SUBMIT to magazine or directory at allshemakes.org

Art is always better when viewed in person, or in this case - a magazine! Work by Tanya P. Johnson, an artist from our newest issue. "Wisdom Engines are vector maps of perception, boundlessness, and prana/life force. The work attempts to find image to express the awareness of awareness; it is at once a download and an upload." PRE-ORDER now to guarantee you get a copy! SUBMIT to magazine or directory at allshemakes.org LEARN about women and non gender conforming artists via links in bio.

Njideka Akunyili Crosby is a Nigerian-born visual artist working in Los Angeles, California. Through her art, Akunyili Crosby "negotiates the cultural terrain between her adopted home in America and her native Nigeria, creating collage and photo transfer-based paintings that expose the challenges of occupying these two worlds". In 2017, Akunyili Crosby was awarded the prestigious Genius Grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Portrait credit: Erik Carter for The New York Times
