About Alli: Alli is a childrenโs book author-illustrator, mom of four, and a veterinarian. She lives in Hartland, WI with her husband Drew. They are turning a 7-acre property into a hobby farm named Little Willow Farmette. With two dogs, two rats, a tortoise named Hustle, and four very lively daughters (Avery, Hayden, Noa, and Ryleigh), their home is never short on adventureโor noise!
Growing up surrounded by animals and having a grandfather who was a vet, inspired Alli to become a vet as well. For over a decade, sheโs helped pets and their people live their best lives through a blend of traditional and integrative care. She spends her days healing animals and her evenings writing and illustrating. For years, her dog Gunner was her rock, confidant, and constant source of unconditional love through moments of doubt and anxiety. Inspired by him, she wrote her first manuscript, The Dog That Keeps Your Secrets, a heartfelt childrenโs story about the incredible bond between kids who feel differentโlike they donโt quite fit inโand the pets who love them just as they are.ย
She decided to illustrate the book herself, even though she hadnโt attempted to draw anything since high school. Now, her nights are filled with YouTube tutorials and my digital sketchbook, proving itโs never too late to learn something new.
Last night, we had the February Book Buzz, one of the largest attendance of all time. Alli Dunlop, Deb Biechler, Jane Kelley, and Jean Huxtable Hamersky were entertaining and gave some great advice on how to market a book. The Beyond part of the night was a respectful and informative session on how members are distributing their newsletters. #scbwiwisconsin #scbwiauthors #scbwi

Finally (sort of) caught my breath after a memorable #scbwiny26. I could write a whole bookโshocking, I knowโabout this yearโs conference, but my biggest takeaway is simple: CONNECTION.
From touring one of the โBig Fiveโ publishers with incredibly gracious hosts to a manuscript consult that turned into a new friendship, plus catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, I felt seen and encouraged all weekend.
Thank you to everyone cheering me onโand especially to my husband and sister, who covered home life so this mom of three could chase her dreams. I hope to send even a small fraction of this weekendโs good vibes back into the world.

It was a morning filled with book joy at the @wauwatosalibrary ๐ Their magical story room is THE perfect place to spend time learning and laughing together โ especially when beautiful books and freeze dance is involved! ๐๐ถ
I stayed after to sign the libraryโs copy of Treasures / Los tesoros but I couldnโt due to such a great problem: It was checked out already! ๐
