How to be lucky. (a very squished down version of a talk I do that has lots of examples and stats to back it all up - jussayin, event organisers) 1. get over yourself and post. To stay top of mind, talk about yourself to an uncomfortable degree. - who you are what you do - who you help Being known in your industry is a game changer because "fame is a luck multiplier" (- Greg Hahn) 2. network network network In person and online (like here). Because nepotism is your friend and "all things being equal, people do business with and refer business to those people they know, like, and trust" (- Bob Burg) 3. go brain-to-fingers Don't over-edit yourself. People want to see the real you. "Don't be the best, be their favourite" (- Jay Acunzo) #Marketing #Freelancing #GetOverYourselfAndPost #EventSpeaker

Are you suffering from skill delusion? AI is making people think they're competent at stuff when they're not. Only the real experts know what good looks like. Inexperienced prompt jockeys don't. That's why AI hustle bros get rinsed in the comments section by people who know what they're actually talking about. Alongside this we have the illusion of productivity where AI especially LLMs give people the sense they even got loads of work done. It reminds me of being at uni, photocopying loads of journal articles and feelings like I'd done work. I hadn't. I'd just copied some information. Yes, you can churn out a 12-page report five times a day. But is anyone going to read them? Is any of it actually useful? #AI #SkillDelusion #Productivity

Event organisers - get yourself a photographer who makes people feel good 💖 The lovely Nisha from @iggyandlime was at @themarketingmeetup conference in March and snapped these two of me, along with a tonne of brilliant pics capturing the spirit of the event. Including loads of great speaker pics (one of the hardest tasks as they tend to move around loads). Thank you Nisha :) Pic descrip: me in a pink dress posing like a show off. I've got shoulder-length brown hair.

This video got removed from app because it violated the community guidelines I can only assume it's because I mention "unaliving" my plants. 3 tips for freelancers in 2026 (or any year tbh) - these sound so obvious but so many people forget (or neglect) to do them. 1) Tell people what you do way way more often than you think you need to, because people have terrible memories and will forget. Plus, LinkedIn only shows your posts to something like 10% of your followers. So keep talking about what you do to stay top-of-mind. 2) Get on video so you become a real moving human in people's minds instead of a teeny tiny static profile picture on their phone screens. It lets people see you're not Al and learn more about you, like whether you've had Botox (no judgement - I haven't coz I want to keep going) 3) Share your personality and interests so you're not just another generic [insert job title here]. I like plants, my keyboard, and cheese. Oh and I'm crossing my fingers a brand wants to send me to their sponsored ski chalet some day. Alps me up, bebbeh. For more freelance tips including how to find clients and price your work, listen to indie business club podcast wherever you cast your pods. #Freelancing #PersonalBrand #SelfEmployed #IndieBusinessClub

Tune in this week for a great conversation with @allcopymel about: - the traits seemingly ‘lucky’ people have - simple ways you can engineer your own luck - the things people do that probably turn people away (ie, don’t make negativity one of your content pillars on social) - why the biggest mistake people make is forgetting potential clients are watching - why you shouldn’t wait to be asked but rather need to put yourself out there and offer to be on that podcast, talk at that event, be chosen for that webinar - the clever LinkedIn strategy that helps you edge into potential clients’ worlds and get to know them Let us know what you think of it and leave us a rating or review where you pick up your podcasts. Thanks for listening :) #podcastersofig #newepisode

Loved speaking with Lucy on the CMO Therapy podcast. We talked about tone of voice and why it's so important not just to customers (as in this clip) but also internally for a brand. Your brand voice can make or break trust, so make sure you're using it intentionally and consistently. Get the whole episode in your ears by searching CMO Therapy wherever you cast your pods. #CMOTherapy #Podcast #Marketing #ToneOfVoice
