Had the pleasure of working on BOOTS, the new Netflix TV series inspired by The Pink Marine. I tailored over 100 Marine uniforms and created custom safety armor and a 90’s-style wedding veil. Thank you to Billy Ray and Lee!
I had the privilege of creating a piece for @officialginaladivina early in my career in San Francisco. I vividly recall her graceful approach after a performance at The Hot Boxxx Girls show. A little birdie told me you make clothing”. She welcomed me into her studio, a scene straight out of a movie, with racks of lavish materials like beads, feathers, and sequins lining the hallway as you entered. Velvet adorned her surroundings while Shirley Bassey‘s voice filled the air. We discussed costumes, designers, and the showbiz world, sprinkled with a bit of light gossip.
Gina entrusted me with 20 yards of red satin, requesting a coat lined in silver lamé. Little did I know, it would be my first and final encounter with that material! The delicate lamé proved challenging to work with, constantly shredding under the machines, and the weight of the train made hand stitching nearly impossible. Despite the hurdles, I managed to conquer it, much to Gina’s delight. She would joyfully exclaim “20 yards” while twirling in the coat, resembling wings.
Whenever lamé catches my eye, or I spot it in a store, I’m instantly transported back to my time with Gina.
