Hosted by Michelle DeFeo, President of Laurent-Perrier US, and special guest Maximilien de Nonancourt it was an evening exploring one of Champagne’s most revered houses.

Tonight, Chef Grant Achatz is receiving the Jean Banchet Award for Culinary Excellence Lifetime Achievement.
For all of us, this is about more than a career. It is about a world Chef imagined and then brought to life. A way of cooking and hosting that invites curiosity, emotion, playfulness, and care into every moment at the table.
Working alongside Chef has shaped how we think, how we create, and how we show up for each other and for our guests. His vision continues to challenge us, inspire us, and remind us why this work matters.
We are grateful to be part of what you have built and even more excited about our future.

Later this month, Chef Grant Achatz will receive a lifetime achievement award for culinary excellence from the Jean Banchet Awards. It will cap off a season of milestones for the 51-year-old chef, whose ground-breaking restaurant Alinea is in its 20th year.
The interview is full of wisdom but I was particularly struck by the power of reflection to make meaning from the challenges of life. Achatz believes what ultimately gave Alinea its staying power was the very thing that threatened to end it - his stage four tongue cancer diagnosis in 2007. It’s worth the 7 minute listen.
