We're reeling from the enthusiasm of @kermodedodge on @kermodeandmayo film review channel and podcast. It's deeply satisfying to know that a seasoned expert of film received and understood the essence of our intentions so clearly. Dear friends, supporters and fans of Alien On Stage. We´re very sad to share the news that our beloved Dave, the hero of Alien On Stage has become seriously ill with Guillain-Barré syndrome. He was hospitalised in March and his whole body has been in pain ever since. He is now wheelchair bound, the recovery process is incredibly slow and his sick pay runs out in August. It's heartbreaking to know he is suffering so much and we really want to help him however we can, his partner Lydia (who plays Ripley in the show) says offering to organise a fundraiser 'means more than you know'. So our focus is to reach out to everyone connected to Dave through the documentary and invite you to donate something and if possible please work your magic to share the fundraiser and invite others to do the same. Anyone who has seen the documentary knows Dave is a charismatic leader who can achieve the impossible for his community with tenacity, kindness and good humour. Lucy Harvey, Danielle Kummer Screened at @screamsbythesea Film Festival In Dorset no one can hear you scream, unless of course you've had the sheer joy of experiencing Alien on Stage. This documentary from filmmakers Lucy Harvey and Danielle Kummer follows an intrepid amateur dramatics group who drive buses by day and tackle intergalactic beings by night. We see the many amazing real-life characters in the group undertake some of the best-known roles in sci-fi horror history. We laugh, we cry, but mostly we're in awe. The sheer determination to pull off a performance of this magnitude is incredible. The creativity is unrivalled; we have some amazing props, and the production is doused in quintessential British charm and humour. As the cast and crew grace the stage of the famous Leicester Square Theatre in London's West End for the first time, we're treated to a mix of backstage hijinks, audience reactions and of course the show itself. It's clear to see how this reimagining came to be so popular and has since won multiple awards. So good to be back again! The crew reassembled for a very special reunion in the original home of Alien On Stage. In the beautiful setting of Bournemouth Pavilion, we got to hug and cherish our beloved stars of the show. It's a real treat to see their faces and reconnect after all this time . Huge thanks to @screamsbythesea for providing the opportunity to screen the film in our hero's home town. Also props to @vegatron1973a a.k.a Brett for instigating the plan. The audience @mac_birmingham were so warm, friendly and engaged, they gave us a standing ovation and the Q&A was the nicest we've ever had. @filmstoriesmagazineuk kindly hosted and filmed it which we will share with you later. For now we managed to capture a rare glimpse of the audience's reaction, laughing and enjoying themselves. They must have loved it as they queued for 30mins to talk to us and buy our merchandise.
