Bye bye Cannes - a flying visit we’ll never forget. Thanks to @clockwork_wb for bringing Ken Russell’s directors cut of The Devils finally to the big screen again, and to the passionate audience last night (including Peter Jackson, sitting behind me, and - according to Thierry Fremaux who introduced the whole caboodle - also Park Chan-wook).
Last night’s absolute Cannes hot ticket ⭐️ So proud of @kermodedodge for willing this into being over the decades. 22 years ago when we programmed this version of The Devils into our History of Horror season at the @britishfilminstitute we had Ken with us; I hope he is looking down from director heaven and enjoying the hell out of this!

📣 Our brand new ep of Kermode On Film is out now!
🌟 Last night’s MK3D welcomed a stellar line-up to the stage including Bob Odenkirk on NORMAL. As Bob discussed the film with host Mark Kermode, extra surprise special guest, director Ben Wheatley who had been covertly sitting in the audience, joined them on-stage to talk about their collaborative work on the film.
🌟 Mark Kermode also welcomed director Marc Evans and actor Leisa Gwenllian on the stage to talk about their upcoming film EFFI O BLAENAU, which is released in UK cinemas on 19 June.
🌟 Samira Ahmed also took to the stage to discuss her brilliant new BFI Classics book A HARD DAY’S NIGHT. This fantastic film inspired the show’s Sound & Vision segment which featured Can’t Buy Me Love from the Film to end the show.
