I got invited to Art sauvage, a land art show, and took the opportunity to challenge myself and use only raw localy harvested materials. I used to tie everything up with fishing line but now i learned to weave rope and strings out of raw fiber and its really satisfying! Its pretty much as strong, more beautiful and just way greater conceptually. Using fishing line was kindoff breaking the magic too because i couldnt leave it in situ. Its shitty to just leave a bunch of fishing line in the environnement so i was just dismantling every piece after the photos but now that i have learned to make rope ill be more at ease with leaving them in places! A world of possibilities! Thanks @emile_du_terroir and @jardinsdevictoria for the invitation! A really inspiring place with many projects! Thanks @chrisdufour for teaching me how to weave plants! Excellent technique! Very inspiring artist with a beautiful vision too, go check it out! #landartgraffiti #postgraffiti #landart #landartist #landartphotography

Cycle Ive had the idea of a "metal" graffiti in real branches for a while but its only when @lost_too_see_ and @l.coats_ invited me to participate in an exciting clandestine sculpture show that i decided to go for it. The show was in Camp Louis Routh, an abandoned juvenile detention center near Los Angeles where the youth were also employed as forest firefighters. Ideally i would have went to the spot and find inspiration there but that summer i was up in the yukon and couldnt make it in time. There was one obvious connection between those places though; the spot was a forest firefighter training center and both yukon and california were dealing with severe forest fires at that time. I decided to channel that into an in situ piece in the yukon and have the photo printed. The location would be central in the idea, i would do it in a burnt forest. As i was getting close to the area i had in mind, i got stoped on the highway. The fire department was warning peoples of a new active forest fire nearby... They told me it was ok where i was planning to go since a river was supposed to act as a barrier from the fire. I would be right on the edge of the evacuation zone though, without any cellphone network to keep track of it so i still had to be careful. I would only have my own senses to notice the signs of a worsening situation... It wasnt reassuring but at least i was aware of the situation. I arrived in the burn and started looking for a good site to start building but it was quite different from what i had envisioned. It was really overgrown, way more than i thought. I ended up walking hours and hours looking for the perfect spot to materialize my idealized vision of a landart piece in a burnt desert but I guess i had underestimated how, in reality, a burnt forest regrow very fast and everywhere around was lush green. I was walking around feeling rushed by the active fire presence looming around the corner. It wasnt working, my mind was dispersed, i was thinking; wtf am i even doing here? There is a fire nearby and im just here wandering next to it, breathing smoke... for an art idea... Continued in comment

Sanctum Absolutely beautiful expo @galerie_mold last weekend. Loved the unity of the whole show, everyone brought different textures and materials but all the pieces were visually cohesive. Magnifique. Thanks to the artists, commissary, friends and everyone who showed up. First photo by @simonjohnsdesign

Craterium minutum A remarkable species of myxomycete i hope to encounter one day. ~20 000x magnification I wrote 2000x on the wall but it is a miscalculation. The real size of these sporangia is around 1mm.

Saint-Sulpice's myxomycetes My friend @flora_trillidium invited me to a gathering last spring to honor curiosity and playfulness within nature and art. The idea was to interact with a special park in Montreal, Saint-Sulpice, which has a wooded area. Every artist was invited to create something inspired by the magic and curiosities of Saint-Sulpices’ ecosystem, to consciously raise awareness on the complex relationships held in the space. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to search for wild myxomycetes (slime molds) that could live in the woods. An invitation to dive deep into the micro world and investigate the beauty hidden right under our nose. Flor brought me a bag of organic debris she thoughtfully harvested from various decaying plants and trees in the park.  I cultivated them in a humid chamber until myxomycetes fructification and plasmodium emerged. As always with this technique, I wasn’t sure if anything would appear, but it turned out it was a very lively sampling.  In only a couple days, many different species emerged. I am still not completely sure of the identification to the species level but one of them, a species of the Acryria genus, stands out with its bright pink intricate capitulum. I photographed the tiny specimens with specialized super macro equipment and documented the growth, through multiple stages of their life cycle for some of them. During the gathering, I showed prints of the macrophotographs coupled with the associated petri dish containing the living specimen. A magnifying glass was provided to be able to see them closer and understand the scale these organisms are living in, a deep dive into the world of decaying forest litter and the barely perceived microorganisms that thrive under our feet. This wooded area might be only a small remnant of the bigger forests that used to cover the area, but it is still a place with a thriving biodiversity to be witnessed and cherished. "In the last years, I have discovered slime mold cultivation, which grows into organic, intricate, and flowing textures that resemble what I have always been trying to do with my graffiti. The first idea was obviously to try to write my name with them. It took a lot of trial and error, but I eventually mastered the technique; I must really let the slime molds move freely to get pretty results. What I want to do now is to bring them outside to create real living graffiti on the streets!" We just dropped a new feature with @algueux ! Head over to the blog to catch his full breakdown along with all the photos in full size, uncropped and unfiltered. This one’s not to be missed.
