Visual artist and designer based between Bratislava and Vienna. Her practice balances the solitary work in front of the PC and beong part of the non-hierarchical artist cooperative Dočasný kolektív.
෴ And for what?
Alexandra @algasp_ asks: in the age of the endless algorithmic stream of social media, is there any coherence in human identity itself? The VR-material installation “this house is a ̀ଘ(੭*ˊ◕ᴗ◕)੭*̀ HOME ♡♡” brings together things such as shitposting, hatred for the concept and commodification of identity, memes and the world being too big, complex and overwhelming. The VR experience lacks a clear beginning or end, the scenes alternate endlessly and are always varied by a randomly assigned audio meme. The visual composition is based intuitively on the researched internet spaces, with their internal rules replicated. The content is stripped of its meaning and context, creating a hollowed-out reflection of itself.

Be not afraid. Within an immersive environment, Alexandra Gašparovič/ová presents a series of relations emerging from the presentation and reception of contemporary art. Is it necessary
for a priest*ess to interpret contemporary art like a prophecy? In the ambient soundscape of a custodian’s shift the artist extends an invitation to play with fortune, coincidence or prediction. However, remember that epiphany comes with a price. In the margins she maps speculative fictions about the future of cultural work and scene as she looks for strategies of
survival and convalescence.
The site-specific works presented in T3 are a product of long-term research and workshops with young professional artists, students, as well as cultural workers.

Alexandra Gašparovič absolvovala bakalársky stupeň na Katedre intermédií bratislavskej Vysokej školy výtvarných umení, počas ktorého absolvovala stáž na Digitálnych umeniach. Jej tvorba sa intenzívne zaoberá digitálnymi priestormi, v ktorých užívateľstvo zdieľa rôzne obsahy – od neškodných mémov po konšpirácie. Využíva na to médiá ako video, ale aj digitálne filtre, VR či počítačové hry. V Moravanoch si môžete vyskúšať jej interaktívnu aplikáciu OUIJA Project.
