Introducing our guest facilitator for March 17:
@alexetchart (director of
@siblingartsaction &
@firechoiruk )
Creative Resistance is Bechdel Theatre’s monthly get-together at
@QUEERCIRCLE . An interactive, informal & community-focused space for making & building connections between each other.
You’re welcome to attend all of the sessions, or just come along for one or two.
Alex Etchart (they them) is a British Uruguayan social artist using theatre, music, film & education to amplify queer, decolonial & environmental communities & campaigns across UK/internationally. They've run stigma-busting songwriting workshops in over a dozen countries. Their composting pop turds workshops turn vacuous 90s bangers & Disney slop that lives rent free in our brain into social movement anthems that are effortless to spread.
Expect:
🤗 A space to socialise & meet others
📣 Reflect on how songs are used in social movements
🎶 Create an anthem together, using “composted” pop music
🥁 Join in however you like - no special musical skills necessary!

Description:
1. A mixed pastel background. Orange, purple & black text says: ‘Creative Resistance guest facilitator Alex Etchart. Below, a photo of Alex standing on a beachy landscape between a rock, a sand dune, dried grass, and blue sky. They're a British Uruguayan person, with short light-brown hair & small moustache, they're often described as looking Russian, but actually South American. They wear a long sleeveless dress in bright multicoloured stripes, and a chunky sun-shaped necklace. They gaze throughtfully into the distance, golden sunlight falling on their face. Under the photo, their name, a purple arrow & a cartoonish illustration of a group of people walking together, in hues of orange, purple & green pastels that match the background.
2. A bigger version of the illustration of a group of people walking together, holding a drum, a paintbrush, a sign & a rolled up scroll of paper. Caption: Creative Resistance, Tuesdays once a month @ QUEERCIRCLE SE10 0BN. Bechdel Theatre, QUEERCIRCLE & Lottery logos.
