RISING TIDE continues at @sevenmarksgallery As part of the Kiama Sounds of Jazz & Blues Festival, join us this Saturday for Art Hour…an afternoon of conversation, image and sound inside the exhibition. Kiama-based writer and former journalist Nick Hartgerink will lead a conversation with artist Alexander Boynes, exploring the ideas and tensions woven through Rising Tide ..a moving image work featuring an original score by cellist and composer Tristen Parr. Set within the industrial landscape of Port Kembla and the Illawarra …always Dharawal Country …the work reflects on environment, labour and deep time, and feels especially resonant within our own coastal community. Presented as part of the Kiama Sounds of Jazz & Blues, this is a chance to slow down, listen closely, and experience the work from the inside. Saturday 7 March 3–5pm Conversation begins 3.15pm Drinks in the gallery. All welcome. 📸 courtesy of the National Museum of Australia #sevenmarksgallery #risingtide #kiamabluesfestival #kiamaarts

On the eve of Rising Tide… Abby and Quincy within the installation — the quiet centre of everything. This is my second solo exhibition since Quincy was born, now 11 months old. Nothing here would exist without Abby — her strength, patience, and belief has carried me from beginning to end. Rising Tide opens tomorrow 5–7pm, Saturday 14 February 2026 SEVENMARKS Gallery, Kiama #AlexanderBoynes #SEVENMARKSGallery #ContemporaryAustralianArt #ClimateArt #GreenSteel

I’m very pleased to share that my new exhibition ‘Rising Tide’ opens soon at SEVENMARKS Gallery. Saturday 14 February 2026 5–7pm SEVENMARKS Gallery, Kiama Set within the industrial landscape of Port Kembla and the Illawarra — always Dharawal Country — this new body of work reflects on a place shaped by labour, environment, deep time, and lasting consequence. The steelworks emerges in fractured, atmospheric visions, where endurance and erasure sit side by side. The exhibition features major new paintings and drawings, alongside a moving-image collaboration with an original score by cellist and composer Tristen Parr. Rising Tide continues my engagement with industrial landscapes and the Anthropocene, and marks a personal return to the Illawarra, tied to my own history and the legacy of my late mother, artist Mandy Martin. All welcome — I’d love to see you there. From week one at CCAS in 2010 ➝ to me and my family in late 2025. Today I finish up at Canberra Contemporary after 15 years. In that time I’ve had the privilege of supporting more than 600 artists and helping deliver over 460 exhibitions across CC and Platform. To the artists, curators, supporters and friends — thank you for the trust, the collaborations, the conversations and the community. Time for a new chapter. Photos by Mandy Martin, Hilary Wardhaugh

Study for ‘Rising Tide’ — a glimpse into a major new multidisciplinary work in progress, combining painting and moving image, with a score by cellist and composer Tristen Parr. Drawing on the industrial and environmental history of Port Kembla, NSW, the project explores transformation, resilience, and the future of steel on Dharawal Country. Rising Tide continues my exploration of the intersections between industry, environment, and cultural memory — and marks a personal return to the Illawarra, a region central to my late mother Mandy Martin’s practice. Full details of this new exhibition to be revealed soon! #RisingTide #AlexanderBoynes #TristenParr #MandyMartin #PortKembla #Illawarra #Painting #VideoArt #SoundArt #Collaboration #EnvironmentalArt #AustralianArt #ClimateChangeArt
