He thought copywriting was copyright law. His friend tried to explain it using a billboard. He still didn't get it.
Then he noticed his friend was wearing shorts and flip-flops to work on a Tuesday and that was the only pitch that landed. @alemuemuron accidentally walked into one of Africa's most decorated advertising careers because nobody told him he had to tuck in his shirt.
@AlemuEmuron built a Pan-African creative agency @thequollectiveafrica , won Cannes Lions, and put an endangered rhino in an ad that ran in 170 countries.
Before all of that, he was sleeping between an office and a bar in Kampala after losing his job eight months in, with nobody willing to give him a loan and too much pride to go back home.
This conversation goes deep into what actually happens between the broke and the breakthrough. How the money lessons from a mother who gave him half his requested pocket money, and made him submit a written budget became the foundation for funding his own business without borrowing a single cent.
