Ten years ago we first met @gyridnk in Huddersfield UK, where she composed for us the hauntingly beautiful “Storytable,” for four amplified wooden boxes. Now, ten years later, we perform it on our own boxes (made by @sandro_valiante ) for the first time. *sigh* they grow up so fast. • May 3! Link in bio.

The 4 drummers are placed central and exchange percussive gestures. Everybody for themselves and yet very much together, the superposition of these very individual musical lines become a complex, common counterpoint. A visual and sonic stunner. The piece is named after an Indonisian bird known for its prowess of collecting things, and organizing its dwelling in order of importance. The matriarch. I love her and I’m so proud of her. My dad, her beloved husband of 40+ years was a true caregiver. Papa was soooo careful and present for us, always! Every detail was under his supervision and control, and functioned perfectly. 2 months ago, Papa passed away after a terrible cocktail of illnesses and here comes (SUPER)Mama…! She suddenly had to pick EVERYTHING up and has figured it out like a boss. The learning curve has been steep but nothing my adorable and brilliant Mama can’t take. I love you Mama! Keep it up, champ!
