itās been a little while since I talked about myself and my photographic journey here on IG and I have these fun new brand photos to share š
My name is Alana, Iām a beauty & fashion photographer based in San Francisco (best city ever) and Iāve been working freelance as a photographer, photo assist, and retoucher for ~2 years. I also work as a studio manager at a wonderful studio space:

My journey with photography began long before going freelance full time- I graduated with my MFA in photography in 2023, and before that worked in clinical neuroscience research with dreams of going to medical school. 2020 changed all that (though the idea to leave medicine behind had been deep in my mind for some time before) and I, like so many others had a reckoning to reevaluate what was important in life and how I really wanted to be spending my time. Long story short here I am 5 years later, literally living my dream (most days š
) and trying my best to āmake itā as a professional photographer.
I describe my visual style as playful, colorful, bold, dynamic, and as many others have noted, CRISP!! Maybe itās my clinical brain that craves tack sharp photos with clean lines and strong shapes. I am passionate about authenticity and representation in my work- doing my part to depict people of all sizes and skin tones, and always maintaining natural skin texture in doing so. I also pride myself on making every subject feel comfortable and safe when working with me. I care a lot about mentorship in photography as unfortunately thereās a culture of gatekeeping in the Bay Area and unwillingness to share resources. To that I say HELLLL NO. Thatās really just not my vibe.
Right now Iām focused on shooting images of the highest quality to elevate my portfolio, expanding my network by going down to LA and by pitching new brands, and eventually working towards getting signed to an artist agency.
