Ecdysis | Soft Palate opens next week July 12 at Dancing On The Edge @dotebc co-presented with SFU Woodwards Cultural Program @sfuwoodwards
These pieces showcase my collaborations with costume and set designer Alaia Hamer @alaiahamer and lighting designer Kyla Gardiner, as well as the incredible team of: Jessica Keeling @jessicadawnarts and Hayley Gawthrop @hay.r0 (dance), Filip Gorecki @_filip_gorecki and Linda Fox @copyright_linda_fox (music), Bob Pritchard @charredmedia and Daniel Tsui @dantsuiii (spine tech).
Originating during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ecdysis | Soft Palate explores expressions of other worlds and consciousnesses through movement, costume and light. The sci-fi solo Ecdysis looks to the future and utilizes technology developed by Dr. Bob Pritchard (UBC) and the Tracking and Smart Textiles Environment (TaSTE) project. The trio Soft Palate is inspired by Hilma af Klint’s paintings from 100 years ago, dream sharing practices and textile techniques.
