Al Zanders Al Zanders is a DJ, producer and label owner from London, known for his widely acclaimed edits, productions for Phonica Records and Roy Davis Jr’s Undaground Therapy Muzik, as well as his energetic and eclectic DJ sets.
Whether it’s a small basement club in Tokyo, a large festival such as Lost Village or Gotwood, where he was described as a highlight, or a well established venue such as XOYO - Al’s known for joining the dots between deep, soulful house and disco originating from around the globe, ranging from Italo, South African, Anatolian, American and much more.
After a short break following a brief hiatus, Al is back with a string of back to back releases across various imprints in 2025 and beyond, proving he’s really only just starting.

Al runs A-Z records, which has been home to some of the most fantastic house and broken-beat explorations of the last 5 years. Besides releasing on Wolf and Phonica, he also cut his teeth under the Lodger moniker, a true expression of his skills as a sampler and editor.
@Beeches is one of our local favorites. Besides running the legendary @no.rewinds parties, he’s also a resident of @gonzostworoom , where he lays down eclectic sounds with ease and style. He’s also just started a new radio show on @balamii called Microdreaming. We’re excited to have him back!

A mainstay in the London club scene, Al Zanders is known for his infectious energy and ability to weave together an eclectic mix of music. Fresh off his success with Phonica Records, London producer Al Zanders returned to the legendary Underground Therapy Muzik (UTM) imprint in June of this year. His four-track EP, titled "Guidance," showcased his versatility across the house music spectrum. This release marked Al Zanders' return to UTM, solidifying his position as a talent to watch within the house and disco scene. Expect anything from disco and funk to house and techno, all delivered with a skilful touch that keeps the dance floor moving all night long.

This is why I love what I do! Was great to have @dj_kobayashi down to the balamii studio. His label Batov has been putting out some incredible middle eastern and global music over the last few years from acts like @satellites.band and @sababafive , but it was very rewarding to go through the whole discography over 2 hours.
During a q&a at the end, Kobayashi explained to me that while he releases experimental music that blends styles from all over the world, the music is always put first - if it works it works. An attitude I think we can all get behind.

New single out today! It's called Mantra. My favourite nu-disco creation, the track is based around personal sayings and idioms from my close friends, about how they get through the day.
Already getting love from Ame, HAAi and Bill Brewster, the track is available on Spotify, Tidal, Youtube, Bandcamp and all the regular spots.
I thought the artwork for Not Soppy was a bit 'out there' so thought I'd go a bit more plain and ordinary for this one...
What sayings do you use to get through the day?
For this month's @balamii label focus show, I was joined by the great @bill_brewster , where we did an hour focus on the seminal 80s New York imprint ZE Records.
This label playfully combined disco, post-punk, latin music and more into a unique and very fun sound, that I'm sure had a big influence on fellow New Yorkers such as DFA, as well as any DJ who enjoys going off the beaten track. Thanks to Bill for coming down and picking such a great label.

When I think of 'Tech-house', the first thing I remember is working bar at a festival many years ago, serving disaranno & cranberries to jacked guys in tank tops, bobbing their heads to a soap-actor-turned-DJ.
However, labels like Surreal changed my mind. This imprint ran from 97-03 and released some incredibly fun and inventive music combining elements of house and techno. It's a classic underground dance label - simple logo, mysterious aliases, consistent output.
No tracks are on streamers, so this track ^ is one of @gerd4lux early works, many of which are included in the second half, a collection of recent favourite finds in a similar style. Full @balamii mix via link in bio 🔗

So many classics on this legendary label from Moodymann, Theo, Alton Miller, Wamdue Kids, as well as recent artists like @littledragonflicks .
