I prefer to call it a series of shouts, the resentment and the sharp edges of hate living in my bones, than a poem. I experimented with many colors, a lot other combinations merged a lot better. But I keep coming back to the rigid, hard conflict between red and blue, where the edges stay sharp and the colors kind of repel each other. It’s the sound of something breaking. Every time I drive into the city from the 101, I see this scene: San Francisco’s houses rising and falling with the hills. Under the California sunlight or (most of time) a thin layer of fog, they really do look like scales on the back of some enormous, breathing creature. At moments like this, I always imagine a giant dragon coiled along the hills. Compared to flat plains, it would surely prefer terrain like this, uneven, full of ridges and contours. 🔴 All Red Narrative Thank you everyone who came to Red Night last Saturday night ❤️ Such a fun, warm, slightly chaotic evening. We revisited the most popular drinks from our 2025 gatherings — Qingming, Snake, Qixi, Shanhai — and pushed them through a red filter. I’m releasing a limited first edition of 35 prints in solidarity with immigrant communities in Minneapolis impacted by ICE enforcement. 🤍 50% of profits will be donated to support immigrant legal aid and community care in Minneapolis. The remaining portion supports the space at Now place, labor and sustainability of making this work. As an immigrant myself, this situation is incredibly difficult and painful to witness. 红心柚子剥开和心脏很像。 最近吃柚子吃很多，冬天也只有柚子了。 在中国随处可见的水果摊卖播好皮的柚子，被塑料薄膜包裹，艳红色们整齐的排开。挑一盒带回家吃起来非常方便，有人为我剔除了所有的劳动和不确定。 回到美国之后我也想念柚子，在超市转悠几圈买到一整颗柚子。回家之后要使出九牛二虎之力才好打开它。柚子的皮始终带着不想被人啃食的坚持，只有等你的手指与那厚实绵软的海绵层搏斗，与紧贴果肉的白色经络谈判，它才允许你一点一点挑出占据一半也不到的果肉。 —— Lately I’ve been eating a lot of pomelo. In winter, there is only pomelo. In China, fruit stalls are everywhere selling pomelo already peeled, wrapped in plastic film, their vivid red neatly arranged. You pick up a box, take it home, and eat it with ease—someone has already removed all the labor and uncertainty for you. After returning to the United States, I found myself missing pomelo. I wandered around the supermarket a few times before buying a whole one. Back home, it took all my strength just to open it. The pomelo’s skin carries a stubborn refusal to be eaten. Only after your fingers wrestle with the thick, spongy pith, after negotiating with the white membranes clinging tightly to the flesh, does it finally allow you to pick out, little by little, the fruit that occupies less than half of its body.

Beiwei 北圩客厅x Now place 此间 📼 ｜12.21 event recap Last Saturday, @beiwei_story held a light yet spark-filled conversation with @akaa.null , founder of the multilingual art bookstore and independent publishing platform “Now Place 此间” in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Her journey from print artist to space curator opened a window for us into publishing, space, and daily life. 📚 In our dialogue, we explored: • How zines can become an extension of a lifestyle. • How spaces can act as mediators between people and creativity. • How publishing can intertwine with eating, drinking tea, and wandering in “non-professional” daily life. @akaa.null sees RISO printing and zine-making as ways to “build public intimacy.” At “Now Place,” publishing is not just about producing content—it’s a form of mutual calling and collective archiving, where a bookstore becomes “a verb constantly in motion.” ✍️ A few lingering sparks of inspiration: “Publishing is a response to the possibility of coexistence.” “Creation grows naturally through eating, drinking, and enjoying life.” “We are not silent labels—we are active weavers of narratives.” Thank you to everyone who joined, bringing your stories, questions, and warm presence.
