Last month, the Center for Earth, Energy and Democracy (CEED)'s Dalal Aboulhosn spoke at Federal Fire, Local Heat, an #EarthDay 2026 event hosted by the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), where lawmakers, climate leaders, organizers, and change-makers at the front lines of the climate fight highlighted the on-the-ground initiatives, innovative partnerships, and community-driven solutions that deliver climate resilience and economic opportunity for a just climate for all.
Thank you to SEEC and @saadamer for having us and for hosting an incredible event!

How is the Trump US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) @epagov ‘endangering’ our health and environments? Join WE ACT’s Jaron Burke and Lonnie J. Portis to learn about the recent rollback of more than 30 EPA regulations protecting us from dangerous vehicle and climate pollution, including the Endangerment Finding. These hard-earned protections are at risk of being undone, despite being vital in protecting our health, neighborhoods, and in fighting climate-fueled extreme weather, especially for environmental justice communities.

⚠️Did you know that the proposed Trump US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) @epagov budget is SLASHED IN HALF from last year? This means the EPA won’t be able to do their job, further hurting our health and wallets, while leaving us even more vulnerable to climate-driven extreme weather. Trump’s policies are sacrificing our communities to benefit polluters. You can do something about it.
🔍Here are the facts:
- The EPA has a legal responsibility to clean our air and protect our health - it needs the appropriate funds and staff to do its job.
- We’re facing some of the worst air quality of the last ten years; a person of color is almost three times as likely as a white individual to live in a community with dirty air. (American Lung Association @lungassociation )
- The FY27 EPA budget proposal is half the amount of FY26. If enacted by Congress, the proposed budget would put the EPA at its lowest funding levels since the 1980s.
- Funds that are being threatened would have helped community groups conducting air and water quality monitoring, reducing lead poisoning in homes and schools, reducing energy bills, and cleanup of contaminated sites in polluted neighborhoods.
- The big, bad billionaire tax break bill, along with this administration’s broad attacks and rollbacks of environmental protections and environmental justice grants, is a MAJOR and unprecedented giveaway to corporate polluters that will cost our health, our lives, and our future.
➜How you can help:
✅Spread the word!
✅Tell your reps you want EPA funding and environmental justice protected.
We the people deserve clean air, water, and land. We continue to demand that our tax dollars be used to improve our well-being and address unfair systems; clean our air, water, and land; lower costs and drive clean energy progress forward. #ThePeoplesEPA

On Earth Day in 1970, 20 million people took to the streets to demand action from those in power on pollution. Though more work remains to create policies that truly put our communities first, so many environmental justice (EJ) leaders across the country are leading the way to make a just climate future a reality. Now, daily attacks mean these leaders need your help.
The organizers of Earth Day in 1970 and EJ leaders today continue to remind us of how collective action can change our future. Your gift can help to ensure local movement leaders have what they need for the future we all deserve.

The Environmental Justice (EJ) for All Act and the lasting legacy of the Congressional champions who paved the way to make it a reality, late Representatives Raúl Grijalva and A. Donald McEachin, is a historic example of what #JustClimateFutures look like ✊🌎
It’s one of the most far-reaching environmental policies of our time, addressing the many systems that disproportionately impact low-income and communities of color. The bill includes provisions that protect and embolden Civil Rights, equity in health research, outdoor access, industry permitting accountability, and directs funding streams for communities to create thriving, climate-resilient neighborhoods.

Today, for #EarthDay, Senate and House Environmental Justice champions @reprashida@repsummerlee@senduckworth@repgrijalva and @senbooker took a stand and said what environmental justice communities have been saying for decades: environmental justice is the cure for the diseases that are racism and catastrophic wealth inequality, and the solution this moment requires and our communities deserve. This #EarthDay, we're highlighting #EnvironmentalJusticeSolutions across the country 🌎 #JustClimateFutures are happening in Louisiana and beyond through the work of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice (DSCEJ) and its founder, Dr. Beverly Wright!
Environmental justice is a civil right. This belief is the foundation of 30 years of work alongside community members at the DSCEJ. Dr. Wright advocates for the simple rule that no project or industry should harm a neighborhood or contribute to the climate crisis.
