“Chicken Chase” will be on view today at the opening of “Memphis College of Art, 1936-2020 An Enduring Legacy” alongside a powerhouse group of artists. Very thankful to be apart of a show to remember an institution/time that played such a large and special role in getting to be the artist I am today. Congratulations to everyone included!⭐️
.
In May of 2020, the Memphis College of Art (MCA) graduated its last class of students, ending an illustrious 84-year history of contributing to the creative, economic, and cultural flourishing of the city of Memphis. In addition to being a touchstone for the regional arts community, MCA graduates ventured across the country and around the world where they nurtured their own careers as well as inspired generations of others through teaching. The college’s history is intimately tied not only to the city but
also to the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery, today the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
Little late but thank you to everyone who came out to Parcel 36 to check out my work! Grad show 1 is still open until this Thursday, February 26, so slide through and see it before it’s gone! Thankful to be able to be around old and new family and a great crop of artists.

Meet Ahmad! 💙 @ahmad__studios
Ahmad George (b.1994) is a painter and multimedia artist from Memphis, Tennessee. George received a BFA from Memphis College of Art and has shown in NADA Miami as well as national and international group and solo exhibitions. In their art, George creates kinetic visuals by the use of doubling and blending old and contemporary imagery of the American south. Through the use of Acrylic paint and occasionally fiber, they explore the temporality of physical space and people, archetypes, personal family history and its connections to the agricultural industry (farming & chattel slavery). Though existing anthropological materials serve as a great resource, they also enjoy creating their own lore and symbols specific to themselves, the delta, their spiritual beliefs and etc.
