As a freelancer, I mainly receive a public-facing byline for my written contributions, so as 2026 begins, I want to take a moment to share work I've done as an editor with some terrific teams over the past year or so. I find editing to be incredibly gratifying, whether I'm mapping out editorial strategy with staff, assigning or developing pitch ideas with writers, honing story and language after a first draft, or acting as a last line of defense against grammatical and other errors right before work is published. For Doug Stallings @fodorstravel , I edited several chapters of the 2025 edition of Fodor's Essential Germany, helping readers achieve their best travel experiences in one of the countries closest to my heart. Born-and-raised Connecticutie @sadlow also trusted me, a mere Connecticut transplant, to edit the CT chapter of the latest update to Fodor's Bucket List USA, slated to be published in mid-2026. For @foodandwine , I supported numerous delightful team members across departments including @ashday , @kalindahao , @breanakilleen , and @audreymorg , working as a developmental and copy editor on hundreds of stories written by talented writers covering topics from the best new chefs in the U.S. to cooking guides and travel stories to some of the year's most popular news articles and recipes. For @eater Travel, I had the pleasure of reuniting with former coworkers @nicholasmancallbitel and @bylinemjf to edit restaurant guides to destination food cities across the globe, from Lisbon and Montreal to Mexico City, Rome, Paris, and Tokyo, written by almost two dozen local experts. For @authenticfoodinsta , I partnered with @jannatamargo as editorial producer to expand the heartfelt independent publication's roster of writers and commission ten new stories about food, restaurants, and purveyors. In 2025, I had the opportunity to collaborate with editorial teams I've worked with for many years as well as develop relationships with new ones. In 2026, I'm excited to be working again with many of the same great folks in the list above — and hopefully some new ones. If that might be you or someone you know, drop me a line.

The @germanytourism crew brought a taste of German Christmas to NYC for us with a magical Dresdner Christstollen–making workshop! Top elf @ahcallaghan — who keeps me laughing whatever we're up to — only used half his rum-and-riesling-soaked raisins, and I used...the whole container!! 🙈 Whose Stollen will triumph?!? Time will tell — like most traditional fruitcakes, this dessert typically gets aged for a while after being baked, so we're still eagerly awaiting our results. #germany #saxony #christmas #dresden #germanchristmas #stollen #raisins #boozydessert #baking #christmastime #nyc #magic #bake

An inflated and deflated northern pufferfish (or sugar toad, as it’s sometimes called for maximum whimsy 😍) from @andreatese and John’s pound trap to @anna_mannucci ’s kitchen to @minnowatthegalleyho ’s table in the course of an hour. Amazing to see this kind of harmony between fishing boat and restaurant in action. #longisland #discoverlongisland #seafood #fishing #nofoli #northfork #northforkli #restaurant

What an honor to be food judges for @fallforgville this weekend alongside new and old friends like @beardedwriter and @the_gastrognome . Congratulations to all the purveyors, particularly both 🥇🥄 Silver Spoon and Sugary Spoon top winners — @eatcalifas and @couturecakesofgreenville — who were unanimously voted the judges’ first place picks! During and beyond the festival, it was a pleasure getting to know @visitgreenvillesc ’s appreciation of good music (we loved catching sets from @buff_dillard and @the.tams ), the city’s vibrant downtown, its impressive Swamp Rabbit Trail (let’s hear it for removing highways and making more people-oriented spaces like the Falls Park and the Liberty Bridge on the Reedy River!), local food history (including @dukes_mayonnaise stories provided by @greenvillehistorytours ), and restaurants like @sobysnewsouthcuisine , @eatbobbys , @stellas_brasserie , @winehousegvl , and @forkandplough . #fallforgreenville #greenvillesc #foodwriter #foodjudge #autumn #fall #eatthis #foodfestival #musicfestival

On the tiny German island of Föhr, the Manhattan “belongs at every occasion, whether funeral, baptism, birthday party, or simply friends coming to visit,” says Jan Hinrichsen, owner of Hinrichsen’s Farm Distillery, which sits on the idyllic North Sea destination in the Wadden Sea National Park — but Föhr's version has a twist. Read the full story and get the simple recipe on @punch_drink now. Thanks to @maryanneporto for diving into the Föhr Manhattan with me! #cocktail #visitgermany #germanytourism

When I read about the first lab-grown fish approved by the FDA for human consumption, I was intrigued. But I figured it would be a while until I could try it, as it was only available at three restaurants, including @gg30000 's @kannrestaurant , none near me. Last month, though, I visited Seattle, where I lived for five years before COVID-19 hit, and found out that renowned @chefreneeerickson had just become the fourth restaurateur to add @wildtypefoods ' cell-cultivated salmon to the menu. I had to try it. @stasiabrew and I were staying with two of the most adventurous people we know, @ekpopelka and @zubanhunter , so it was no trouble to hastily organize a happy hour taste test. We ventured to Erickson’s crown jewel, @thewalrusbar , an oyster bar in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood that just celebrated its 15th anniversary. Read what we thought at the @foodandwine link in my bio. Many thanks to editor @audreymorg for facilitating this adventure! #VisitSeattle #TrueToNature #fish #salmon
