City. Noise. Texture.
In the conditions of constant sensory stimulation generated by the contemporary metropolis, we increasingly construct selective filters around the information we perceive, leaving countless details of our surroundings unnoticed. The project “City. Noise. Texture.” is a visual exploration of these lost fragments of the environment, approached through a mode of perception where noise and distortion become the primary language of narration.
The author takes the position of an embedded observer, moving within the flow — not constructing scenes, but allowing the city to speak on its own terms: through cracks, light patches, digital glitches, rust, vibrations, and hum. These elements, usually lingering on the periphery of attention, become the main protagonists of the visual narrative.
The work emerges at the intersection of media: analog and digital photography, scanning, lo-fi devices, and field audio recordings. Sound is woven into the image through intentional glitches and distortions, literally embedding the acoustics of the streets into the visual frame.
This book offers a slowed-down, attentive perception of the urban environment through visual details and discoveries. It focuses on the textures, rhythms, and noises that constitute the backdrop of everyday life, capturing aspects that typically remain outside conscious awareness.
