Tell us below! 👇   -   A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD), Agathe Riedinger is an author, director, and photographer. She experiments with different types of narrative, between excess and irony, sometimes deliberately vulgar or surreal, to question a certain vision of the world and speak of themes that are dear to her, such as emancipation and the female condition. She directed the short films Waiting for Jupiter, nominated for the Best Short Film César Award in 2019, followed by Ève, selected at Clermont-Ferrand and Sarajevo, among other film festivals. Her debut feature, Wild Diamond, was presented in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. The film won the Critics’ Prize at the Namur International French-Language Film Festival and earned its lead actress, Malou Khebizi, interpretation prizes at the Stockholm and Namur festivals. Agathe Riedinger è autrice, regista e fotografa. Diplomata all’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs di Parigi, sperimenta diversi tipi di narrazione, tra eccesso e ironia, talvolta volutamente volgari o surreali, per mettere in discussione una certa visione del mondo e affrontare tematiche a lei care, come l’emancipazione e la condizione femminile. Ha realizzato diversi cortometraggi tra cui “J’attends Jupiter”, con Sarah-Megan Allouch e Alexis Manenti, in cui esplora i desideri di una giovane donna che sogna di entrare nel mondo della tele-realtà, candidato al César per il miglior cortometraggio nel 2019. “Ève”, selezionato al festival di Sarajevo nel 2019, è la storia di due donne alfa ossessionate da un ideale irraggiungibile di bellezza.  La notorietà internazionale arriva con il suo primo lungometraggio, “Diamant brut”. Protagonista è l’attrice non professionista Malou Khebizi, nei panni di Liane, una ragazza di diciannove anni ossessionata dal proprio aspetto e dal desiderio di “diventare qualcuno”. Unica opera prima selezionata in concorso al festival di Cannes 2024 e in corsa per due César, DIAMANT BRUT è un’anti-fiaba sulla mitologia dell’apparenza e sull’obbligo sociale alla bellezza che Agathe Riedinger esplora con una regia potente. DIAMANT BRUT - WILD DIAMOND, UNA RAGAZZA BRILLANTE è in concorso per il #PRIXPALATINE2025, selezionato in collaborazione con il festival @rendezvous.cinema.francese .
