Weāre teaming up with @smallspacemusic and @alex.keatley to put on āSpace Is The Placeā - a celebration of Brian Abrahams, South African jazz and large ensemble improvisation. Brian will be teaming up with fellow drummer Ronny Farella to lead a large ensemble, inspired by Brianās time with the @grandunionorchestra . For the opening act, @alex.keatley brings his Sounds of The Motherland project to perform a mix of Alexās original music and classics from his South African heritage, as featured in his recently released debut album.

Legendary drummer Brian Abrahams leads 7-piece Afrospace Interchange for a donation-entry gig every Wed at @oldplatesrecordbar (Brunswick Street, Fitzroy). Two sets from 8pm with a featured guest artist each week (upcoming guests include Angela Davis, Jorik Bergman (NED) and Scott Tinkler).
Afrospace Interchange are also heading to @geelongjazzandbluesfestival , playing at @beavsbar from 3:30pm on Sun 15 Mar.
Finally, on the afternoon of Sat 21 March, @alex.keatley (NZ) puts together a new band celebrating his South African roots, in a double bill with āSpace Is The Placeā, a large ensemble spiritual jazz collaboration featuring two drummers, @smallspacemusic (Ronny Farella) and Brian Abrahams.
