Destiny is a funny thing. I recently cut my hair, feeling aways about how I look and feel about myself. What is my self worth tied to? I've spent an entire 2 years contemplating what I attach my beauty to. So the title of this work is very personal to me. I've learned to accept Ubuhle buqala ekhanda...mentally, emotionally.. how I perceive myself and challenging those perceptions when they are bad, and nurturing them when they are good. I hated my forehead for a long time, and I would try to hide it with my hair. I could never braid a straight back without feeling so exposed. Today it's my favorite thing about my body.
