Scenes from our Kings Heights project on Luray Terrace in NW Portland. This project started out as a “renovation” where we utilized the existing homes footprint of the 60’s single level ranch. The existing foundation was demolished after we found an underground spring that made it apparent that a new foundation was the most durable long term investment for the new home. Yep - there was water flowing underground, just like David Byrne said.
Starting from the ground up - we had a best in class geotech (true north) to navigate the structural and site drainage requirements of the groundwater and clay soils.
We took care to preserve the giant cedar and Hemlock trees flanking the home during construction with the help of Pacific Standard Tree.
Luray Terrace has some tight turns so we coordinated the size of all the structural steel and wood roof truss lengths during design to ensure delivery.
This project would not have been possible to excecute without the talented builder @brandt_g_peterson , @coolshippdx and @willpritikin of @aformaco .
