⭐️I got the call from my agent exactly a year ago today that I booked this magnificent job⭐️ I can’t even describe this experience as a job because of what an enriching this project was. 🌌5 minutes after landing back in the UK from Lisbon, on the 22nd Of December 2022, Lucho called me and said that I was going to South Africa in 2023… I could not believe it… we had been through 2 rounds of castings & was told it wasn’t looking good, there were more auditions happening. 🪄But there I was in Cape Town this January 🇿🇦 📖 I could write a whole book on this experience.. Perhaps I will post some bts soon. ꫂ ၴႅ༘Strangers on Valentine’s Day 🥀 2026 I love strangers. There are no preconceptions. You don’t know me, I don’t know you. And for a moment we get to meet on a completely blank slate and connect in a way that feels meant to happen, even if only for a second. 6pm, Shepherd’s Bush Westfield (yikes) after seeing QPR sorely lose on home turf. I quickly realise where I should be: my favourite street in London, Exmouth Market. After cycling 40 minutes on my Lime bike, I hop off and pace the pavements, scouting for lovebirds I could subject to my flash. For years I’ve wanted to start this annual project. Originally, I wanted it to feel voyeuristic- like I was quietly witnessing love without being seen… But the Instax flash kind of doesn’t permit that ahah. So instead, strangers became subjects. Although I’ve been a street scout before, I’m quite out of practice approaching strangers, so I stood and observed for about an hour, teasing the straps of my camera pensively between my fingers. After realising I couldn’t stand there without looking like I’d been stood up for a date, I finally strike… I was met with a warmth and openness that I hadn’t ever experienced in all my time approaching strangers. Perhaps that’s because when casting, people’s thoughts often go to, “What is this person trying to sell me right now?” … or even worse, “SCAMMER ALERT.” That’s my favourite one. when you can see their body language change as they look at you and slightly recoil. Grateful this was not the case last night.
