Nothing quite like being featured in the @nytimes to brighten a rainy day, eh @christopheranton13@mulveyreyes ?

Went on a neighborhood walk today to see all the different #iris #flowers that were growing #photography
I hope that these photos don't get roached. I have no idea how to fix it.
I found these #1890s (#1894-#1896 ish) images of the same style of suit in the forms of a photograph, a fashion plate, and a pattern draft for that style. I came across this good quality brown stripe wool today ($10 a yard!!), and I think I'll make it out of that, but with patch pockets instead of flap pockets. If I don't have enough for matching trousers, I can at least get a waistcoat out of what's left. #vintagemenswear #victorian
I don't know what it is lately with Instagram crunching my photos.
So I got this fabric a few weeks ago and never posted it. I found this lovely tweed which goes with this striped silk, and a nice embroidered taffeta. Anyway I was wondering what style of necktie to make, and then I unearthed this old photo from my archives of an #1880s to #1890s era cravat and I think I found my inspiration!
Fun day yesterday with the @nyhistoricalcostumers at our #GildedAge themed Spring Stroll! Most of us were dressed in #1880s and #1890s styles. It was wonderful seeing everybody's outfits and sheltering in the shade of the cherry blossoms. After splitting off with @mister__burton and @shaw_hutton we took some silly and serious photos elsewhere, and then had dinner at @angelinaparisusa
Thank goodness for modern #balinese rings. I've been looking for an #ancientroman #antiquegreek or #etruscan style ring for ages now . I've seen some beautiful but unaffordable replicas of ancient intaglio rings (nicolo technique, my beloved) but then I remembered that southeast Asian styles from Bali and other parts of Indonesia are very similar to styles from the ancient Mediterranean.
And they still make them! Just paint em gold and you basically have a #hellenistic cabochon ring. I normally don't go for adjustable rings, but this one is silver. I can live with that and adjust it to fit whatever finger I desire.
Quick and dirty update/tour of my #1880s -#1910s men's jewelry. Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but MY best friends are semiprecious hardstones like agate, and bloodstone.
Had a blast this #eastersunday at the #2026 #easterparadenyc . Saw the #woodcock at @bryantparknyc . Even though we got rained on and experienced a memorable time in a rideshare, we made it in one piece to @dandywellington 's #eastereggstrut. Thank you to all my friends, even if we only saw each other for two seconds or didn't get a chance to take a photo. Hope to see you around!
Thinking of either making or thrift flipping one of these #1880s to #1890s style beige top coats. You don't often see "brown in town", and I find the contrast between formal daywear and something a little more casual to be nice! Especially with lovely satin lapels.
Just got this beautiful early #1900s (maybe #1920s at the latest) cameo ring. I think it's sardonyx. While not as fine as some of the #ancientroman examples, it's still an oddly aesthetically pleasing realistic portrait.
Otherwise, I've been alternating between freaking out about the state of the world, and working on an #ancientgreek and an ancient Roman outfit
