Adoptable Dogs of NYC 🚕❤️🐶🗽

The last 3 months have been a total whirlwind. I feel like Paddles and I have lived 5 lives in this time, but I’m finally starting to catch my breath as we start to settle into our new version of normal. - Since her diagnosis, Paddles has undergone 3 rounds of stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT), a round of electrochemotherapy (ECT) and an immunotherapy treatment. Balancing her happiness, our finances (@trupanion I love you) and her ultimate prognosis has been a challenge to say the least. Deciding to put her through treatment and ultimately watching her endure it has not been easy. - I’d like to publicly shout out the team at @animalspecialtycenter (especially Dr. Rosen) - they have such a breadth of knowledge and have been incredibly compassionate and helpful throughout this process. - A note to Tiny’s support squad - especially my parents, siblings & our community of fellow dog loving friends - we’d be lost without you. We’ve been driven to appointments when I’m too sad to go alone, showered with Paddles’ favorite things & most importantly checked in on. No text goes unnoticed. In her head now all packages simply bring Lambchops and her favorite people suddenly want to spend extra time with her. - She is so brave and so strong, and I’m trying to be hopeful about what these treatments could give us. I cherish every Greenie Time routine, cuddle on the couch, car ride & walk with my girl. She is simply the best! - PS: What do you think of Paddles’ new look? I’ve decided to view it as a reminder of how strong she is. My little warrior 💪🏼

Introducing... the 🐣 behind the 📷 (haven’t done this in about 3 years, so I figured it was time again 😂) • For those who don’t know me personally, my name is Alex. I grew up in Connecticut where my parents and 2 family dogs live (B & Towzer). I am a triplet, and am very close with my family. I went to school in Virginia 🕷 and moved to DC after graduation before moving to NYC to be closer to my favorite people 🥰 I am a consultant in “real life” and a CPA. When I’m not photographing I love exploring the city, traveling when possible, and trying out as many of NYCs restaurants and bars as my wallet will allow 😂. • Animal rescue has always been a huge part of my family’s life, but Adoptable Dogs of NYC was born 5+ years ago after some major life changes left me searching for a little more substance in my life. After meeting some amazing rescue organizations and their people, I have photographed thousands of adoptable dogs, and their adopters as well as the fosters and the staff/volunteers that make this work possible. The pandemic introduced me to the behind the scenes world of getting a dog ready for adoption, and also ramped up my foster efforts. Ultimately after 19 fosters, @paddles_the_pupper was the one to stay and is now my canine partner in crime. Although my fostering is on pause, my efforts to document all parts of animal rescue and our bonds with animals are full speed ahead! Last week I received the news that Carl (now known as Dexter) had passed away ♥️ - Carl was with me during a crazy few months last summer - I was drowning in work stress and heartbroken to be saying goodbye to my childhood home. Carl kept me and my family smiling during that period of transition. He basked in the sun by the pool, helped my dad recover from surgery & sat on my lap as we drove away from my first home. I adored this little dog. - When he became available for adoption the most perfect family came along - calm, undeterred by his medical needs & most importantly ready to surround him with love (and whisk him away in a stroller). I am heartbroken for them that they didn’t get more time with their boy, but will forever be grateful that he got the happy, comfortable, dignified ending his story so greatly deserved. I couldn’t have asked for a better family for him & this week they sent me his paw prints - an incredibly thoughtful and touching gift. - Take a chance on the fragile seniors, they might be exactly what the heart needs. We love you sweet boy 🌈♥️

Formally introducing Gracie (foster #50 🎉)! The sweetest, silliest little monkey you’ll ever meet - available through @muddypawsrescuenyc . - Gracie came into the care of Muddy Paws a few months ago as a nervous little gal with some medical complications. With the help of @_hillarymiller & @southern.gothicc she is feelin’ great and her adorable personality is out in full force. Medically, her diabetes is now well managed & she’s on a solid routine of eye drops to keep her eyes comfortable and healthy. She might be mostly blind, but that isn’t stopping her from getting the zoomies and voicing her demands (often cuddles, sometimes a snack). She adores kisses and is always happy to be included whether you’re cooking, going on a walk, or working at your desk. - She has stolen the hearts of her foster mom squad (Hillary, Isabel (@simonsits ) and myself) and we cannot wait to see who welcomes this perfect little girl into their family.
