🍵 To me, tea is comfort. A peaceful ritual at the end of a long day. After discovering the Chinese gongfu cha tea practice 4 years ago, I knew I wanted to make a film about it. In 2023 I started writing what would become “Gong Fu Tea”, the story of a daughter wanting to bond with her elderly dad over tea, after the death of her mom. A touching story about connection, family, life & loss. A story close to my heart. In 2024 I revised the script & drew storyboards. In 2025 I pitched the project to all the talented people in Austin I wanted to work with. And here we are in 2026 ready to make this important film. I’ve also never done a crowdfund before and, although it’s been challenging at times, I’ve also learned a lot that will help me & my projects in the future. Overall It’s been a long journey but we’re almost there & I couldn’t be more excited! We have less than a week left, so if you’d like to visit our crowdfund, learn more about the film, & help us make it, click the LINK IN MY BIO ✅ . Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for supporting independent film. -Jarrett New (Writer/Director “Gong Fu Tea”)
