Open mic night was incredible ✨🎤
From powerful poetry to breathtaking vocalists to music from @pree_djs that had everyone on their feet, it was a night to remember at @cupracitygarage_mcr
The audience brought the energy, our creatives showed up and showed out and it felt like one of those rare nights you just know you’ll be talking about for a while.

This is what Black Creative Trailblazers is all about. Yes, we platform creatives. Yes, we run events and showcases and panels. But at the heart of it? We build spaces where Black people can simply be, joyfully, freely and together in community.

Our dancers brought a mix of contemporary and afrobeats to the Greater Manchester Creative Industries exchange bringing vibrant energy and energetic moves. They brought a spirit of joy & celebration to the event and it was one of the highlights seeing guests dance 💃before the second half of the day! Yesterday, our creatives made their mark on the city at the Greater Manchester Creative Industries Exchange ✨
From our drummers setting the tone with a high-energy African drumming session to our dancers bringing vibrant energy to the lunch hour, we infused the day with joy, rhythm and creativity.
Our models became walking works of art, showcasing @ruthwaziriofficial ’s floral-inspired collection Bloom, before closing with a panel specially curated by @blackcreativetrailblazers celebrating Manchester’s impact on fashion, hosted by BCT co-founder @thishartofmine .
We wrapped up the day leading a bookmark-making workshop using African fabrics at @sister_manchester edition of @venturecafemanchester 💫

A couple of months ago, I was selected for the Creative Producer Development Course with @homemcr@the_lowry@z.artsmcr and @companychameleon and it has been an incredible experience so far.
What’s made it truly special has been being able to bring the learning back home. From calculating your day rate as a freelancer (shoutout @mazhedgehog 🙌🏾) to understanding how angel investors operate in the arts, to negotiating contracts with large cultural institutions.
I’ve loved sharing the gems with my co-founder @thishartofmine and the creatives at @blackcreativetrailblazers .
This is exactly why infrastructure matters. The knowledge exists. It just needs to be passed on.
Right now I produce events on a medium to large scale and I’m proud of that. As @blackcreativetrailblazers continues to grow, I’m genuinely excited to take on larger, more ambitious projects with even more confidence.
Strengthening my foundations means I can show up fully for our community and deliver everything we dream of to the very highest standard 🤎✨
