‘Faster than light, always’ is a sound and choreography production by our friends at @wonder.cabinet bringing together British-Palestinian movement artist @beingshadid , Palestinian movement artist @adanazzam_ and Ramallah-based interdisciplinary artist @julmud_1
It is part of Wonder Cabinet’s ongoing body of work exploring the Cremisan Valley through architectural, sonic, visual, and ecological investigations.
The performance speaks to the aesthetics of the Cremisan Valley and to the ways in which occupation forces have been encroaching upon one of the last remaining green spaces around Bethlehem, further suffocating its community.
It also explores the borders and boundaries of Palestinian cities, systematically threatened by Israel’s illegal occupation of the land.
This beautiful work speaks to our focus on movement, where the body moves carrying emotions, joy, grief and all other consequences of the occupation perpetrated day in and day out by Israel on the Palestinian people.
We were lucky enough to see it performed live last week at @themosaicrooms in London, thanks to the vision and courage of @angelina.radakovic , @elias.anastas@yousefanastas and @ilariasperi

Performance | Faster than light, always
Faster-than-light, always is a sound and choreography production by Wonder Cabinet bringing together movement artists British-Palestinian Sasha Shadid, Palestinian Adan Azzam, and Ramallah-based interdisciplinary artist Julmud.
It is part of Wonder Cabinet’s ongoing body of work exploring the Cremisan Valley through architectural, sonic, visual, and ecological investigations.
The performance speaks to the aesthetics of the Cremisan Valley and to the ways in which occupation forces have been encroaching upon one of the last remaining green spaces around Bethlehem, further suffocating its community. More broadly, it uses the body as a medium for claiming the land, embodying its ample and smooth curves, its terraces, and the bearing trees it cradles.
Wonder Cabinet presents this production developed in the framework of Sounds of Places 2024, an annual residency-based sound gathering exploring the sonic aesthetics of place initiated and curated by Wonder Cabinet and transmitted through Radio AlHara.
Following its development in Palestine, the performance is now presented in London by Mosaic Rooms and Another Sky Festival. It will be presented on the festival’s opening night.
The performance will take place in Mosaic Rooms’ garden (weather permitting).

في أيامٍ تزداد ثقلاً، نمدّ أيدينا لبعضنا البعض.
نحمل، كأفراد وكجماعات، صوت شعبٍ يبحث عن حرية، وحنين نساءٍ ينسجن الأمل وسط الانكسار.
نرقص كي لا نصمت. نتحرك كي لا نجفّ. نخلق لأننا نؤمن أن الفن مقاومة، وأن اللقاء ضرورة.
من القلب، ندعوكن وندعوكم لحضور أمسية راقصة حيّة، نلتقي فيها على أرضٍ مشتركة من الإحساس، الحركة، والتساؤل.
أعمال تنبع من تجارب فردية وجماعية، وتحاول لمس تعقيد مشاعرنا في عالمٍ كثير الألم وكثير الحب.
نستحضر خلالها لحظات اليأس والاستسلام، كما نستحضر الضعف، فقدان الذات، والرغبة العميقة في الاستمرار – معاً، لا وحدنا.
نرقص كي نتمسك ببعضنا، ونذكّر أنفسنا أن الفن ما زال ممكناً، وما زال لنا.

"صغيرٌ على الحب" عروض أدائيّة، تتضمن أربع عروض فردية. تتناول العروض أفكار و مواضيع تشكل حيزاً كبيراً من فكر المصممات وتوجهاتهم حيث تعبّر كل منهن بطريقتها ولغتها الجسدية الخاصة.
في هذه السنة تحديداً، مررنا بالكثير من المشاعر المتناقضة، المؤلمة والصعبة. لم تكن سنة اعتياديه لنا ولشعبنا، وهذه الأمسية تجسد جزءاً كبيراً من مسيرتنا هذا العام، وتدفعنا لاستمداد القوة من أفراد ومجتمع نحيط أنفسنا بهم، ليعيدوا لنا ذاكرة الشعور بأهمية وجودنا هنا واستمرارنا في أعمالنا التى تمنحنا الأمل، القوة والمقاومة.
أربع أعمال تخلق تجربة ترتبط في محاولة لفهم الذات وانماط تتمسك بها الراقصات للسعي من خلالها للاستمرار، حيث ترتكز الأمسية على فكرة تعددية المشاعر في عالم واسع مليء بالحب، الوجع، اليأس، الاستسلام، الضعف، وفقدان الذات و مستمدة من فكرة التمسك بالبعض الاخر كأفراد لنتمكن من الاستمرار و المواصلة في الفن و الانتاج في اتجاه الشغف و الأمل المتجدد.

“Small for Love” is a dance evening featuring four solo performances. Each piece explores ideas and themes that occupy a significant space in the minds and directions of the choreographers, with each artist expressing herself through her own unique bodily language.
This year in particular, we have experienced many contradictory, painful, and difficult emotions. It has not been an ordinary year for us and our people. This evening reflects a large part of our journey over the past year, pushing us to draw strength from the individuals and community surrounding us, helping us to reclaim the memory of the importance of our presence here and our persistence in the work that gives us hope, strength, and resistance.
