Jakupsil is delighted to represent Adam at the Future Fair, taking place at 535 W 28th St, from May 13 - 16. The booth T3 will be a three-person presentation of the latest paintings by Anikoon, Adam Handler and Raymond Ishii.

Adam Handler (b. 1986, USA) constructs his canvases through careful, gesture-driven application of acrylic, oil stick, and dense pigment, leaving thick accumulations of color that register the body's movement. His spectral cast—ghosts, wide-eyed girls, cats, figures dissolving into ground—is rendered with a deliberately imprecise mark: the bulk of the oil stick resists fine control, and Handler treats this as method rather than limitation. Through layering, density, and tactile mark-making, Handler investigates the rhythms of perception and presence, using the behavior of paint itself as a conduit for expression.
Visually akin to children's drawings, Handler's paintings exude freedom, innocence, and primitiveness, making them hallmark features of his work. These painterly scenes he creates manifest his guileless and intuitive voice, effectively supplanting the inherent anxieties and losses rooted in personal stories with cheerful energy.

뉴욕을 중심으로 국제무대에서 활동하고 있는 작가 아담 핸들러 (b.1986, New York)의 작업은 우리 삶에서의 환희의 순간 혹은 상실과 이별, 불안과 같은 주제를 천진난만한 아이의 시각으로 환원하여 바라보게 한다. 이번 페어에서는 물감없이 주로 오일스틱만을 사용한 '회화-드로잉' 신작들을 선보이며 이는 신체의 움직임에 따라 축적하며 화면을 구축한다. 두텁게 쌓인 색의 층위는 몸의 궤적을 기록하며. 유령. 소녀. 고양이. UF0 등 으로 스며드는 도상은 의도적으로 불완전한 선으로 그려진다. 작가에 의하면 오일스틱의 물성이 세밀한 통제를 거부하기 때문이며 이를 제약이 아닌 회화적 방법으로 전환한다. 오일 안료의 밀도, 촉각적 마크메이킹을 통해 화면에서 지각과 현존의 리듬을 드러내고, 자전적 삶이 녹아 있는 구상과 풍경작업으로 표현된 핸들러의 작품은 어린이의 순수함같은 시각적 표현을 통해 세상을 인식하는 방식을 새롭게 제시한다.
