Staying at this gorgeous resort in an old mansion about half an hour from the glass studio. This is how I can manage two full working days in a row, by cutting the drive in half, and resting all of next week (scheduled rest week!).
I'm lucky I can do this much on pushing days, and I don't do it often. If I had two days like this more than once a month I could permanently lose capacity. This is what pacing means for pwME: it's a trade of what can I do and what is the cost. There is always cost. But for me making artist books is worth it.

The finishing step for the sandblasting was to apply this coating - the last thing I did today so it would have time to dry overnight. Meanwhile Marja did a ton of engraving and grinding and polishing and probably some other things too.
Not pictured was, prior to this, me pathetically wafting my hands over the page to attempt to dry it after it was washed. Marja just wiped it with a towel... I was very tired by the end of today.
Such a dream collab and project to make this glass book with @marjahepoaho at her incredible studio @mafkaalakoski in Riihimäki.
The book will be part of the Fiskars Village Biennale with @onomaexhibitions - opening June 6.

Testing the binding for what might be the world's most dangerous book. Working with artist @marjahepoaho to make a functioning book out of glass pages. Each page is 30-50cm wide and weighs 2-3 kilos. We're using a modified slipknot binding with kumihimo cord. Will be at the @onomaexhibitions this summer.
