That’s Life started off as a way to bring myself emotional closure after questioning if my grandfather was proud of me. Today, I feel like I accomplished more than that. I got to honor my grandfather in a way that felt special to me.
Thank you to my entire cast and crew for helping me bring @thatslifefilmproject to life. The Avengers, The Justice League, The Showtime Lakers nor The 2013 Miami Heat can touch my team!

Joseph Henderson is named after both of my grandfathers middle names (Walter Joseph and Wheeler Henderson)
Serenity’s last name is the first name of my mom’s father (Walter).
Frank Henderson is named to honor my grandfather’s love for Frank Sinatra.
Vida Louise is my intentional reminder that I have one grandparent still living and she is my best friend. (Louise Taylor).
I also pay respects to some special friends Derrick Barrett, @mrsamsarpong , @khlphotography and @missjoeyjojo95 - people who believed in me 1000%.
This film is my Fruitvale Station, my Do the Right Thing and my Boyz n da Hood.

I recently wrapped directing my first play and stepped into a new project alongside my husband, @actknowledgeit . Watching him bring this new film to life has been something special, and I’m grateful to support him and his team as Art Director/Set Designer.

Today’s table read for Me Myself then Guys was amazing to say the least. Thank you @lacester for assembling some of the most talented people for this read. Thank you to the table read cast for bringing these characters to life and assisting in this part of the process. I can’t wait to work with all of you in the near future. I’m one blessed director.
ONE YEAR AGO:
My team worked on a unique story, a silent film called Validated Freedom. From beginning to end, we enjoyed every second of working, creating and displaying our art for the world to see.
Thank you to everyone on the team. We won an award for our hard work and it’s just the beginning.
Five Out is coming…
So a thing happened this morning. GOD IS GOOD! I remember asking my older brother @concretest if I could use one of his songs for my film and he said I could use the whole album if I wanted to — so I did. I used his whole album and now I’m proud to say that we won an award for that music. Thank you @aimaffestival for the recognition and award.
My brother and I have talked about working together for years and that’s why this award means EVERYTHING to me. I will cherish this forever.
