📣 International Day of Light: Access to lighting as a key driver of protection in crisis contexts In Chad, at the Dougui settlement, which hosts more than 20,000 Sudanese refugees, the lack of public lighting represents a major risk, particularly for women and girls. Moving after dark to reach water points, health centers, or markets can become dangerous. 💡 In response, ACTED has installed solar streetlights in strategic areas identified together with communities: main pathways, the health center, and the market. 👉 Beyond improving safety, access to light transforms daily life: - it facilitates access to essential services, even at night - it enables economic activities to continue after dark - it gives children more time to study - it strengthens the overall sense of security 🤝 This project was implemented in partnership @eu_echo

🌱Supporting agricultural recovery and resilience in Syria Syria continues to face a protracted humanitarian crisis, with millions still affected by years of conflict, displacement, and infrastructure degradation. In Deir ez-Zor, the progressive return of populations, amid evolving governance dynamics, is placing growing pressure on already fragile services and livelihoods. ⚒ Acted is implementing a multi-sectoral early recovery response in Basira sub-district to restore agricultural production and strengthen food availability: 💡 conducting technical assessments for agricultural businesses for their registration in the programme 💧 providing tailored grants to support agricultural activities 📊 delivering business management support to strengthen economic viability 🌱 offering technical training on climate-smart agriculture practices to improve productivity and sustainability 🎯 To date, 410 businesses have been registered during this phase of implementation, contributing to the revitalization of local agricultural production in the area. 🤝 A project implemented with the support of the Centre de Crise et de Soutien (CDCS) @francediplo , contributing to durable recovery in Deir ez-Zor. #EarlyRecovery #FoodSecurity #ClimateSmartAgriculture

Sudan: Reviving Local Markets in Times of Crisis Sudan continues to face one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Since the conflict erupted in April 2023, more than 30 million people are in need of assistance. Food insecurity has reached critical levels, with over 20 million people facing crisis levels of hunger. In Khartoum, widespread destruction, displacement and the collapse of essential services have deeply disrupted access to food, healthcare and basic goods. 🌍 In highly disrupted urban contexts, restoring local markets is key to helping communities recover. Acted works on two fronts through an integrated approach: 💡 supporting households to strengthen their purchasing power 💡 accompanying local vendors to revive supply and economic networks 🔄 The result: a virtuous cycle where demand and supply reinforce each other, ensuring sustainable access to essential goods. 📊 Key highlights: ✅ 54 local vendors supported through emergency grants, including 8 women-led businesses ✅ Trainings and workshops delivered to strengthen business skills, market linkages, and local networks A practical, locally grounded approach that supports both people and the systems they rely on. 🤝A project implemented as part of a British Council–funded response, in partnership with the Cash Consortium of Sudan (CCS) and in close collaboration with IMPACT Initiatives.

Sudan: Three Years of War. Urgent needs persist. Since armed clashes erupted in Khartoum on April 15, 2023, the conflict has spread across Sudan, devastating civilian infrastructure and leaving approximately two-thirds of the population in need of humanitarian assistance. 13.5 million people are displaced and 21 million are facing acute food insecurity. 🔄 Since April 2023, Acted has reached over 1.37 million people across Sudan with lifesaving support including: ✅ 450,808 people received emergency food assistance at the height of the crisis ✅ 168,883 households received cash assistance to meet their basic needs ✅ 522,928 people gained access to safe water and sanitation via 2,670 water and sanitation facilities 🔄 In 2026, Acted is scaling up emergency response and early recovery to help families survive today and rebuild tomorrow through health facilities, nutrition centres, shelter and market rehabilitation, a continued effort that is only possible with sustained funding, which is essential to strengthen and expand Acted’s response. 👉 Join us in making a difference — donate via the link in bio. #Sudan #3YearsTooLong

Supporting recovery and resilience for flood‑affected communities in Afghanistan 🌧️ In late March and early April, heavy rainfall swept across large areas of Afghanistan, triggering severe floods and landslides. Nearly 1,000 houses were destroyed, more than 4,150 were damaged, and thousands of people were affected. The lack of climate‑resilient infrastructure has further intensified the impact of the disaster. Our response on the ground: 💸 Multi-purpose cash assistance delivered to 30 households in Takhar & 171 households in Baghlan 🍽️ Supporting families in covering urgent needs such as food, shelter, and essential items This support has contributed to meaningful outcomes for affected communities: 🛠️ Strengthening household resilience in the face of future shocks 🌱 Enabling early recovery while preserving dignity 🌍 Advancing the #3ZERO vision: Zero Poverty, Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon 🤝 With the support of the Directorate-General for @eu_echo , and in close coordination with the @un_ocha , Acted responded rapidly to support the most vulnerable communities.

🚰Restoring access to safe water amid severe drought Somalia is facing the devastating impacts of a prolonged drought, affecting more than 4.6 million people. In Baidoa, communities struggle with critical shortages of water and food. 🛠️ In response, Acted ensured dignified access to essential services for communities on the front line of the climate crisis by: 💧Building two shaded water kiosks to ensure safe and comfortable access to water 🚰 Extending water pipelines to improve the reliability and reach of the water supply 🛢️ Installing a 10,000‑litre elevated mobile storage tank at Bula Jadiid Health Center 🌿 Beyond relief, this action ensures sustainable access to essential services. Over 500 vulnerable households are now receiving safe water daily, a key step toward climate-resilient systems aligned with the #3ZERO vision. 🤝 With the support of the French Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS) through the French Embassy to Kenya & Somalia, Acted continues restoring access to safe water in the most affected areas of Jubaland and Southwest States.
