Registration is open for the 2026 NextGen Design Charrette. This year we will be at the Ontario Heritage Conference to reimagine the future of the Cannon Knitting Mills (134 Mary Street, Hamilton)
Join students and emerging professionals for a one-day, hands-on design challenge exploring the adaptive reuse of a landmark industrial site.
📍 Location: LIUNA Station, Hamilton

The 2026 ACO NextGen Job Shadow sign up is now open!
There are over 24 hosts participating in this year’s Job Shadow which will be during the week of May 4-8.
The goal of the Job Shadow is to bring together students and emerging professionals with established members of the heritage field.
Registration closes Friday, April 24 at 11:59 p.m.

Ever wondered what a job shadow in heritage conservation actually looks like? 🏛️
Past participants have spent time in conservation studios, archaeology labs, architecture firms, and municipal planning departments, experiencing firsthand historic places are studied, protected and reimagined.
From hands-on work to behind-the-scenes conversations, each placement offers a different perspective on what a career in heritage can look like.

Our 14th Annual ACO NextGen Job Shadow is coming up from May 4-8, 2026!
Registration will run April 7-27, 2026!
Each year numerous partner organizations generously donate their time and industry insight, meeting with our students and emerging professionals to discuss what they do, their career progression, opportunities in the field, and their industries as a whole.
Applicants must be a current member of ACO. Opportunities can be virtual or in-person.
