Some weddings are beautiful. Some weddings are fun. And then there are weddings like Rachel + Andrew’s where you leave feeling like you were part of something bigger than just one day. This wedding weekend started on Friday night at the groom’s dad’s A-frame house tucked in the woods with a welcome party that honestly felt straight out of a movie. There was a mobile bar, food under a tent, a fire going, one-hole putt putt, drinks flowing, people laughing everywhere, and somehow within minutes I felt less like “the photographer” and more like I had known everyone for years. We never got to do an engagement session because I stepped in after their original photographers canceled just a couple months before the wedding, so this was the first time I met everyone. And truthfully? I don’t think there could’ve been a better introduction to who Rachel + Andrew are. Warm. Welcoming. Fun as hell. The next day at The Ivy House in Saugatuck, everything somehow got even better. Rachel was one of the calmest brides I’ve ever photographed. Just genuinely happy, relaxed, laughing all day long, completely soaking everything in. Her cathedral veil and dress details were INSANE, the florals were locally grown, pieces of the decor were handmade by family, and every part of the day felt personal instead of performative. She did first looks with her dad, stepdad, and Andrew. They’ve been together for 12 years. They have a puppy named Addy. They love Coors Light. And Andrew drunkenly bought their cake topper one night because apparently he couldn’t find a brunette bride version. 💀 There were 8 bridesmaids, 2 maids of honor, SIX toasts, surprise dances, fake tattoos, glow sticks, limbo, McDonald’s and Taco Bell late night snacks, and one of the most packed dance floors I’ve seen in a long time. But honestly, what I’ll remember most wasn’t just how beautiful everything looked. It was how this entire weekend felt. The kind of wedding where people hug hard, laugh loud, know your name, and make space for everyone around them to feel included. The kind you leave exhausted, inspired, and wishing it wasn’t over yet.

They were very easy to work with and made sure we didn’t have to worry about anything on our wedding day. Maezie even picked up our linenes for us from the catering company ahead of time to ensure set up went smoothly.
