Some wonderful work on display by the brilliant @ella_bertilsson ! Here is a little bit about her work:
“Ella Bertilsson’s practice combines elements of sculpture, video, performance, drawing and sound to stage immersive installations as a form of enquiry into bizarre and quotidian experiences and events that shape our character and define our identity. Moving between the Personal and the Universal, Bertilsson’s practice seeks to reimagine art historical tropes such as Absurdism, Surrealism and Dadaism to form a contemporary treatise on the human condition. ”/Ingrid Lyons - contemporary art and fiction writer @ingrid.lyons
.
@ella_bertilsson is a multi-award winning visual artist based in Dublin. She has recently been awarded a Project Studio at TBG+Studios (2024-2025) and is a recipient of the Next Generation Award from the Art Council of Ireland (2023-2024). Bertilsson holds 1st class honours in Fine Art Print (BA) and MFA, both awarded from NCAD (2009, 2015), and Comparative Literature Studies and Creative Writing from Södertörn Högskola SWE (2012).

We are excited to welcome many incredibly talented and ever evolving artists pushing the boundaries of their medium into our ‘Play Area’ Group show later this month. With play and experimentation being such an important part of the artistic practice, we want to highlight what that looks like across a variety of styles and mediums. ‘Play Area’ is curated by @decoy_art and @claire.prouvost , aligning with @maser ‘s Block Party, a weekend showcasing the Irish cultural and artistic community in Charlemont Sq, Dublin 2. Come along for the opening of ‘Play Area’ on the 25.07 from 6 to 8pm, and have a look at the other event happening that same weekend!

Up next is one of the @abstractboundaries founder and Play Area organizer @claire.prouvost .
Through a playful interaction between shapes and colours, Claire explores the complexity of relationships and human interactions, telling stories through deconstructed figures, intuitive lines and expressive colourful shapes. She explores the multiplicity of facets that compose us by creating collaged characters made of interacting abstract shapes, in a playful and colourful representation of memories, stories and emotions. Her bright coloured, bold and minimal style celebrates diversity, the female form and is inspired by feelings and everyday life.
Yep yep, it’s opening tonight! We can’t wait to see you there! We are so ready to welcome you into the space. All welcome from 6-8pm, DJ set by @ drinks by @hennessy
