Thrilled to see the mural I designed for
@andsoulsanctuary in Shoreditch, beautifully realised by the street artist

The mission of
@andsoulsanctuary is to foster community in an increasingly isolated city. But community is never just a single circle; it’s concentric. This mural is a tribute to the many diverse communities who have called, and who call, the East End home.
The first portrait is of the Jewish novelist and poet Emanuel Litvinoff, who grew up on these streets, his image generously shared by his son, Aaron. The other six portraits were drawn from the work of the photographer Paul Trevor, whose candid images have chronicled and celebrated the real lives of the East End for decades.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring this project and its coverage to life: Abraham O, Aaron Litvinoff, Paul Trevor, &Soul, the Jewish East End Celebration Society, GS8, FTI Consulting, the BBC, and Benji Mitchell. The best work is always collaborative.
You can also hear Abraham and I discussing the mural on BBC London Radio, available via the BBC Sounds app, on Eddie Nestor’s 12/05 show, at 1:52:31
Please come down and see them at 110-116 Cheshire Street E2 6EJ and see what we’ve created in &Soul - there are sauna sessions, movement classes, a beautiful cafe by
