The Purple Samurai is my final Minneapolis Horn Power release for 2025. You can find the whole video on my YouTube Channel. This song answers the question, “What do you get when you mix throwback grooves with a 5-piece horn section, a famous anime series, and a world-class wordsmith?” I texted Toki Wright during my 2023 New Year’s Eve gig, asking if he would be interested in writing lyrics to my new song, which was inspired by the anime series of Shinichiro Watanabe. Before my gig was done, he had a rough demo worked out that captured the Cowboy Bebop theme. This lyric video will be followed by an in-studio instrumental version and a full music video. Cuestiones From my new album "L'Esprit De L'Escalier" This is without a doubt the song I'm currently most proud of in the new album. The idea started when I met @johannesmnmusic and his songs inspired me to try to write something different. Thinking more of movements than the classic verse, pre chorus, chorus structure of pop music. The song was recorded many times starting in 2018 but it never was fully realized until I got to work with Brady Moen @midwesternrecords this last year. To hear it fully arranged gets me everytime. I believe we achieved something pretty incredible thanks to the collaboration of all my musician friends. The song speaks of those who are quick to judge others for their actions, even if those actions do not affect them in any way.

Sometimes the only way to create a better world is to travel “Against the Grain”. The full music video is out today! This second version of the song was created in collaboration with @tokiwright , who wrote and performed the lyrics. It also features choreography from @kaylaannjo .
