This project kinda came out of nowhere but turned into something really special. @hawi_kefale hit me up with the story and from the jump, I knew it was different — bold, a bit risky, and super real. It’s about the version of ourselves we show the world… and the one we keep offline. And yeah, it hits.
I handled the cinematography (my first ever movie btw) on this one — trying to visually balance all the energy, the contrast, the chaos. Colorful on the outside, a little grey underneath… just like Nigisti, our main character.
Big shout out to @hawi_kefale for trusting me and pushing us both into new creative space. And massive shoutout to the whole production crew — y’all really made it happen.

The first time I heard Gigi’s music album ‘ONE ETHIOPIA’ was on an 8 hour bus ride, leaving my hometown for the very last time. Nonstop listening to “Gera Geru” “Abo shemane”, bus driver singing his heart out. It’s been 20 years, and I still have recollection to that particular moment in time. Memories of my childhood, that last bus ride and my last goodbye.
