This country house we designed is starting to take shape. Check out the 4
panel sliding glass door in the Great Room! Its 34' wide and 8' tall with
the two center panels bi-parting.
These lift and slide doors will not work if there is even the slightest

“Dealing with a difficult Site
One of our projects on a Muskoka lake was challenging because of the steep rocky terrain. Rather than design a home at the top of the hill with many exterior stairs down to the water we elected instead to step the 4,377 sf house down the hill and keep the stairs inside the cottage. We rerouted the driveway to the top of the hill so that the cars would always be out of site from the waterfront and main living areas.

Check out a waterfront family retreat that we designed. You can appreciate the value of a wide frontage on the lake where almost all the rooms enjoy a view of the lake. The architecture is “modern farmhouse” (an abused and over used term I admit). The design features a dominant roofline and a series of gables.
The master suite is on its own at one end of the 126-foot-wide floor plan while the children and grandchildren are clustered at the opposite end. Dare to Challenge the Zoning Bylaw:
A client came to us with an incredible building site on a steep slope on the Niagara Escarpment. The best location for their dream home was at the top of the slope where a panoramic view over the Town of Collingwood and Georgian Bay was available. Unfortunately, that part of the lot was Zoned “Hazard” under the Municipal Planning By-law and therefore unavailable.
To be allowed to build within this Hazard Zone we had to obtain a Zoning By-law Amendment. Thanks to our clients’ willingness to spend the time and money and with the help of a talented team of Planning and Engineering Consultants we were successful in getting the Amendment approved and are now under construction.
