It was a pleasure to host the @aapiartsnetwork end of year potluck last Sunday and have the chance to share my latest installation. This work has become deeply personal, reflecting on the immigrant experience. It means a lot to share it and see it resonate with others. 🫶🏼 The next four years is gonna be challenging and I am so grateful to be part of this community. . . . . . . . . . . #aapi #aapiheritagemonth #playground #immigration #community #identity #asianamerican

Grateful to have attended and connected with @aapiartsnetwork at their end of year potluck. A creative, thoughtful and active local AAPI group engaging art and culture with social, political and historical matters. Ended the gathering with an artist led talk of The Verge of the Playground by @tingying.han who also hosted the afternoon. Thank you @tingying.han and @aapiartsnetwork for an inspiring afternoon and looking forward to connecting further and collaborating in 2025!

We acknowledge the vital role postdocs and graduate student workers play in the functioning of the UC system and support their demands for a living wage and fair labor practices. The organizing committee consulted with striking students as well as union organizers to ensure we respect strike sanctions. We are very much in solidarity with the historic strike by UC academic workers. ———————- Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our first panel! Join us for Karin Higa: Reverberations @hammer_museum on Sunday, November 20 at 2pm. This is the second of two panels exploring the many legacies of the influential curator, organizer, and art historian, coinciding with the publication of a new book of her collected writings, edited by Julie Ault. The conversation will center the reverberations of Higa’s work in the present Kelly Akashi, Anna Sew Hoy, Karen Ishizuka, Marci Kwon, Sonia Mak, and Mika Yoshitake. The event is free and open to the public.

This has been such a special project for me to work on; Karin was the first curator I ever worked for and her influence on my work continues to reveal itself. I’ll be moderating the first of two panels co-organized by myself and a lovely group of @aapiartsnetwork folks who all have so much to share about Karin and her impact. Please join us for Karin Higa: Hidden in Plain Sight on November 5 @jamuseum for the first of two panels that honor Higa's work and the brand new book of her collected writings, edited by Julie Ault. Higa is a beloved curator, organizer and art historian. The panel includes Julie Ault, Howie Chen, and Bruce Yonemoto. Her niece, Rose Keiko Higa, will give the introduction. There will be a public reception after the panel. The event is free and open to the public, rsvp required. Link in bio.
