Esile Perez Ramos, 24, is an Office Secretary and Alopecia Warrior since 2004. She was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata since she was 7 years old. It was the most challenging part of her life but despite of these she survived and grew into a fine lady. “We are all having difficulties in life especially during this time of pandemic being affected physically, emotionally and mentally but let's not forget to believe in ourselves that we can make it, we can overcome it, succeed and flourish. Always remember to surrender in God's hands and let miracles happen.” She believes it is possible to rise above our personal limitations and challenges, just as it is possible to still grow and thrive amidst the pandemic. The journey of losing one's hair could become very disheartening to most people. It causes a huge hurdle or halt in their lives as they begin questioning their worth, identity, capabilities and acceptance in society. For #AlopeciaAwareness month, we want to show the world that though one's hair is important, we are 'more than our hair' and are not defined by it.
