🇮🇹🇧🇪 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 🇫🇷🇵🇹 ___________________________ Can you imagine, and hearing person and deaf one, at a concert together? It doesn’t seem possible. Unless... We are working toward welcoming D/deaf people to the experience of a live concert, with a project named AAA: All Areas Access. We started studying the most frequent problems when going to a club: communication, box office, bar, shows. Now, we’re exploring new solutions, together. We’re working hand-in-hand with the artists and technicians to create a show that is not just made to be seen or heard, but something that stimulates all the senses. We’re starting from the Monk Club in Rome and the VK in Brussels to show you the result of this first trial and thus evaluate its impact with D/deaf people. At the end, the solutions will be shared with universities and research institutes, associations and NGOs, and a network of clubs throughout Europe. How many people could truly access all spaces? What elements are we missing? Are we doing something wrong? We realize that our work and commitment to create concerts, festivals, tours and exhibitions is useless to some people. Because, when designed, this shows did not take their needs into account. This project made us realize that excluding d/Deaf people from live music means shunning them from what is first and foremost a social experience. It is this awareness that brought All Areas Access about. Now, thanks to the results of our study and trials, we can all take action! All Areas Access was a guest at the TEDx in Turin to tell the adventure of the project, bringing two performances by gala dragot and Argentina Cirillo to the stage. We are building a path to make live music venues increasingly accessible and we are happy to let as many people as possible know what we’re all able to create thanks to mutual listening. While in Bruxelles, we prepared ourselves to the first AAA project live show by building it up along with artists, technicians and coaches in a one-week-long art residency. It’s been a very intense work, which allowed us to create the most accessible concert possible, directly listening to the opinion of the deaf community.
