‘They are not meant to understand, only to move. To step into the words laid before them, to bleed through each line, to carry the weight of every verse. They will feel everything because that is their purpose. That is all they are — bodies for the poems to break against.
And when it ends, it will begin all over again.’
More details coming this week!
Stay tuned….

The final title of this piece is ‘Writers block’ - A poem meant to capture the breakdown of a writer who plays around with their poem while they rant about their fears and hatred of feeling unoriginal, unprofessional and sloppy. We all have our days, I fear!
January brings cold, dark vulnerabilities that challenge our warm summery spirits. Better let them out than keep them in!

19, thank you for the memories but also, good riddance.
21, you have treated me so kindly that it pains me to know I’ll soon leave you.
22, I cannot wait for our adventures.
Friends; let’s never be afraid to age. What a blessing to notice our growth and leave behind our pain. There’s no shame in aging. I can’t wait to see where we go and what we do next!
And to my fellow university students; we’re almost through the first semester! Good luck and remember, be kind to yourself :)
All the best, always

Written for those who feel they aren’t doing enough. Sometimes our biggest struggle in life is overcoming the desire to be somebody else. We fall into routine and fall out of love with ourselves.
But what you don’t always see is how a friend’s eyes crease at the edges as they laugh at something you said.
Or how your neighbours shake their head in disbelief at how the little kid that plonked around years ago is now as tall as they are.
An old friend will complete their nighttime routine with the memories you shared when you were in school, earning a tiny smile before they fall asleep.
We can’t always see love and appreciation but it exists everywhere, at all times, for you.
Take care always,
E.L
Just a little something for June, After re-reading a couple bits of pieces from @conzeeboo ’s book ‘This way, a bed is waiting for you’ I was inspired to do my own take on weather and our harsh criticism of the uncontrollable.
But this piece is also about our relationships. We have relationships with everything. People, places, memories, objects, movies, etc, and we manage to contain so much while expressing so little. Love and hate can exist in the same space and live peacefully together, something that unfortunately can be forgotten.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Exciting things coming soon! 🫶
Exam season has come to a close for me 😮💨
I’m sure this semester has been exhausting and stressful for us all so I wrote this piece for those of you that may need a little reminder of how brilliant you are.
Life’s victories aren’t always seen but felt deeply within. Here’s to the silent triumphs, the unspoken joys, and the quiet moments of resilience that shape our journey.
I hope this summer rewards you 😊
‘Evidence’ explores the poignant struggle of forbidden love within a society that criminalizes gay relationships. It delves into the emotional turmoil of a person expressing the hardships and pain of being in love in a country where such relationships are deemed illegal. The writer of this letter admits their concerns, believing that their lover won’t even be able to read it. These fears are then revealed to be true by the 2nd slide where the letter has been found and documented by local authorities.
Robin Hammonds photography was my main source of inspiration for this piece. The final 3 photographs represent the emotion that I wanted to capture. A sense of defeat, pain but perhaps also resilience. I wanted to remind people that while such great progress has been made, there are still countries that consider LGBT+ feelings as illegal.

The identity of the ‘magician’ in this piece is completely up to yourself. In response to the title, The magician is the liar in question. A person who lies in order to gain your trust and love, who abandons you and leaves you wanting more from them - That should be the face of the person you imagine when reading this piece.
The narrator speaks to you and every other person that reads this post, providing their own experiences of betrayal. The tone of the narrator is quite sarky and condescending, showing their clear hatred for the person this piece is about. (If the ending doesn’t make it clear enough.)
If anybody has any experiences or ideas that you would wish to see in written form, have any questions about any of the pieces or anything in general about creative writing, or would like advice and help into making your own prose and poetry, please DM me!
Will be dropping one final piece on the 31st before the new year! Until then,
~E.L
This piece is inspired from Jorge Rivera-Herrans track ‘Just a man’ and The Hunger games: TBOSAS. The movie provided new insight to characters and the consequences that desired power has on our morality which I wanted to implement into my own work. The influence these forms of media had on certain descriptions and phrases allowed for me to portray a story in which our narrator is able to forgive those who had hurt and betrayed them but provides a reminder that it most certainly will not happen again.
Maybe one day I will be able to write something cheery. Until then, Merry Christmas!
