Last week, A21 was honored to take part in the ATIP Policy Roundtable in the U.S. Senate. This roundtable serves as a vital bridge between government leaders and field experts, working to advance legislation and policies that combat trafficking and exploitation. This gathering brought together members of Congress, leading anti-trafficking organizations, NGOs, and survivors who have courageously overcome exploitation. One survivor of labor trafficking bravely shared his story: “Thank you for allowing me to use my voice and share my story. We were prisoners without walls. Looking back, it’s hard to believe the conditions we endured. We lived on expired food or hot dogs most of the time. We did not have a heater or warm water during winter, nor A/C during summer. I don’t know how, but he [our trafficker] made us believe and feel we were so little and owned us.” Together, we are making immense progress in addressing the crisis of human trafficking at every level. It's National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. This is an issue that has become near and dear to my heart over the past year or so. I've gotten to learn more and it's such a overlooked topic. It's so common and we don't realize it most of the time. Here is some information and stats, national and more local. There's so much more that could be included, but I'll stick with this for now. I've tagged some Anti-human trafficking organizations that provide good information and resources (not all, there are so many good ones). The National Human Trafficking Hotline number is on the last slide if that is helpful for you.

2024 was, well, almost the exact opposite of what i had planned. instead, i had a year filled with heartbreak, rediscovering things i love, finding joy in the little things, and experiencing peace and grace far beyond understanding. so while i’m not sad to see 2024 go, i’m so thankful for the people, the courage, the growth, and the freedom it brought through these 12 months. i’m stepping into 2025 confident that God has good plans and we’ll see His goodness every step of the way.

😔 This realization was excruciating. But once my eyes were open to this concept, it was easier for me to start healing. I often felt guilty for missing my family. I also felt guilty when I was angry about what happened. Many of my feelings brought me shame. Maybe that’s why I didn’t want to feel anything at all.
