78 years and counting // the Nakba never ended
The main demonstration in Central London today was one for human rights, liberation and solidarity.
Freedom for Palestine, now and always. 🇵🇸✊
Big appreciation for @calthorpecommunitygarden for hosting @cfgn_london@landworkersalliance South East Spring Gathering and 🚀 LAUNCH of our Urban / Rural Exchange programme a couple of weeks back
It was such a treat to learn about Mary Woolaston, the Black 17th century well keeper (thanks to stonemason Marcia Bennett-Male) and to see this buzzing community sanctuary in FULL BLOOM 🌺
So many great ideas emerged for our upcoming Urban/Rural collaborations. So many great new connections…. All fuelled by DELICIOUS food from @thengacafekx
Always warm and fuzzy feels after working with these two organising teams (even ones only with us in spirit 💚 )
“I Was Born Here”: One of the beautiful tapestries from Shahed Saleem at V&A Storehouse. Exploring how colonial ideas of ethnic and cultural purity are still thriving in today’s anti-immigration politics ….. go see em and look at them lying down under the Spanish Colonial Dome if you can
- and buon 25 April to all my friends from the motherland - up with antifascists, today and always 🇮🇹✊
So proud of @arawelo_eats for launching her first drink: Solidarity in a Can
Co-created with Afghan, Sudanese and Somali women, using ingredients from the Choose Love garden (designed by Jane Porter) based on a Greek Refugee Camp…. A project commissioned as part Lucy Badrocke’s WEEVA Fellowship in 2022-23 @badrockel@arawelo_eats and @dhaqancollective use art, music, craft, FOOD, and DRINKS to challenge the increasingly harmful narratives about refugees and asylum seekers. As long as I’ve known her, Fozia has done this by bringing people together to reconnect with the knowledge and skills of the elders in these communities.
Many moons ago, we talked about making a “sister drink” with @goingpicking and it’s so lush to see Fozia powering on and doing the thing with pals, including @lovelydrinksofficial . Will be an honour to support this delicious enterprise, as it ramps up in time for Refugee Week.
Getting to know Sydney / Gadigal Land: a month in upside down time 🙃
Thank you @willjarvo for “dragging” me halfway round the world for my 40th. Thank you @previtj for being top tour guide - - 5 ⭐️ on tripadvisor
“Always was always will be Aboriginal Land”
Invasion Day 26 Jan 2026 in Gadigal Country
1// Marching to demand justice and sovereignty for First Nations people. Calling for an end to: rampant inequality, murders in police custody, removal of children from their families, and the ongoing occupation of, and extraction from, stolen land.
2// Later in the day, celebrating Aboriginal cultures, stories and resistance at Yabun Festival [++ my first experience of the brilliant Baker Boy!] @yabun.festival
3// And finally, First Nations music, art and culture at Blak Powerhouse, at Manning House ++ wishing @wearewarriors_au 5th Birthday 🎈 @powerhousemuseum
An honour to take part in these events. So much solidarity across struggles, with calls for land justice elsewhere, and messages of support for those currently facing other forms of state violence and imperialism, in all its forms.
Today we said goodbye to one of the bests, Violet (Vi) Charlton, who left us aged 95.
It’s hard to put into words how unique and special a human Vi was. You may get the gist from her HANDY-work.
Vi was magnetic. Everyone who ever met her, even briefly, has a story to tell about their time with her. She remembered every person, tree, spring flower and animal she met, and she cared for them all deeply.
She was hilarious. It was her mission in life to make you laugh. A cheeky wink always followed one of her saucy puns, “silly poems” or rhyming punchlines.
Above all Vi is an inspiration: to keep creating; keep looking for the positives; keep baking; keep writing poems; keep making people laugh. She was living proof that it’s never too late to make a new friend or start a new project.
So grateful for the 11 ish years she’s been in my life thanks to @goingpicking . Particularly grateful for the last 5, when she went from being someone I got to spend time with for work, to someone I consider a true friend and comrade (with third musketeer @tuck_shaun ).
She’ll be sorely missed.
Pic 1 is my favourite photo of Vi. Chuckling away at her own joke. After she went missing on a foraging walk with @goingpicking , she reappeared screeching that she’d gone for “ONLY A HANDFUL!!!” of sloes 💜
Many methods of refuelling 🔥 ✊ 🍪
This year’s @landworkersalliance Organisers Assembly, back in beautiful Hebden Bridge. It’s my favourite one of the year, getting back together with the excellent LWA Member Organisers: the teams doing *the doing* of movement building; out in their communities, regions, branches, sectors and ID groups.
2 solid days of strategising, reflecting, re-boosting, re-aligning, puzzling, biscuiting, singing, acronym-busting, etc etc
This one felt really special and needed. Thanks all 💚 🫛
Pic 13 thanks @clem_sandison capturing my @twotreescateringbris appreciation face 🥢
*break in scheduled programming for shameless self-promotion*
I’ve got a new website telling people about the work I do, and offering myself up as a *no-frills* community-organiser-for-hire! 👉 link in bio
I’ve worked in community engagement for 10+ years, but recently, I’ve also been busy sharpening my tools in other strands of work, including:
✏️ Social research: methods for ‘evidencing a need’ for what community groups/orgs do
✏️ Strategy development: a collective vision or plan for community work (from that evidence)
✏️ Measuring impact: Lo-fi, jargon/consultant-free methods of doing creative evaluations
✏️ Working systems: helping people come up with sustainable ways of organising, decision-making, and managing conflict
My aim is to primarily support community groups, organisations or projects looking to develop *their own* grassroots/Lo-Fi tools and techniques for doing all the above. I feel really strongly about the amount of gatekeeping done via these skills/practices, and I’d really like to explore ways of making them less complicated, more accessible, more applicable/replicable, and generally less 🤡 bonky…
…. But also open to supporting more established organisations to share learnings/bridge gaps. And, you know, pay the bills.
If you’re setting up a group/org, or have a project coming up where you think any of the above might be 🍇 fruitful 🍎 please do shout!
✊ Pals in community/grassroots groups, I’m open to looking at some ‘in kind’ or v.v.v. friendly rate options to get some initial tools/resources up and running. DM me

It was such an honour to be at the launch of the Love Is Resistance book, containing 77 beautiful posters in solidarity with Palestine. Nothing but love + proud friends, family and allies all round, witnessing the energy and care that’s gone into making this beautiful thing happen.
