Unfortunate that I was introduced to this life-affirming experience through a friend who was sick. Fortunate that I was introduced to this life-affirming experience through that very same friend. Duality - happy and sad coexisting, yet love always triumphing. Amazing humans here - living fully, loving deeply, and lifting one another up. Tav summed it up perfectly TFP = Community. Love. Support. Thanks to all my supporters & everyone that makes this weekend possible - Nick Fields is feeling the TFP love. 1st photo @nick_presniakov 3rd photo @nickbobroff
Lulu Lopez taking her old man out for a surf check, Baja. She taxed me a leftover LAX turkey sandwich and a rxbar within 10 min of getting there. was my buddy the rest of trip, but I was on the watch.
Godspeed Michael Tomson. Pipeline, Gotcha and as rock-n-roll as it gets. RIP
“this is critical - without the ability to try, to fail, but then to come back again, you(re) living within the shadow of what your potential is, you live in fear of it.”
“Don’t try to be original. Be simple. Be good technically, and if there is something in you, it will come out.” Matisse @belindabaggs downtown Santa Barbara a few years back.
“I was born very far away from where I’m supposed to be, and so, I’m on my way home, you know?” Bob Dylan...and a portrait of @lura.normand in Ojai a few weeks back.
“Think it with your mind, feel it with your heart, then do it.” Dave Rastovich. Pounding an open palm on your chest every once and while to remind yourself that you are in fact fucking alive is amazing too.
“I get so relaxed I could fall asleep out there” @kimi_swimmy 30 miles out off of mainland Mexico hunting Ahi a few years back. Took me 6 hours of drifting onto the sea mount to feel that relaxed but yea, you can nap with snorkel in. congrats on everything girl, love ya! Hang soon
By far the best aspect of my job is access to amazing people like @zarialynn , supremely talented Brooklyn-based pastel artist, “My work, aims to illuminate this data (NASA’s IceBridge operation collecting information on how our polar regions are responding to climate change)through a medium that can move us in a way that statistics cannot. The remote regions I draw are the keystones of climate change but are inaccessible to most people. I draw as much precise detail as I can in order to transport the viewer to a place that is otherwise distant and abstract. I convey the beauty of these vulnerable landscapes, as opposed to their devastation, to inspire viewers to help protect and preserve them.”
